Milic.

The Lundmark votes up to this point are interesting to me. He reminds me a lot of DeMelo, in that he skirts the line of taking penalties a ton and I'm surprised by how much he gets away with it. That's at the AHL level though while DeMelo does it in the big league. DeMelo is the absolute ceiling for Lundmark in my mind, but right now I feel like if he goes up against bigger and stronger NHL players he'll cross over that line often.

@ICdave, was Lundmark injured in the games he missed during the playoffs or a healthy scratch? I was never able to find a proper report on it.

24 votes for an undersized Milac an over age drafted goalie that has not faced a shot in a professional game from any player above junior aged player.

24 votes of Recency bias… wining goalie. In the WHL finals and runner up in the memorial Cup.

Lundmark or Kuzmin then Wagner

“Strange Milic comment”

I find it strange that 39 % of the uneducated Hf Jets board have voted this goalie that is not signed …..in as the 12 th best prospect ahead of other prospects the Jets have deemed worthy to sign to a S.P.C..

Milac May never sign a NHL contract.

Having said that. Let me explain. He was I drafted and is now 20 . The Jets have 2 years to sign him to a SPC.

He is not NHL ready at the moment. A prudent NHL team would sign him to a 1 year prove it AHL contract. If he does well the Jets can sign him to a SPC next off season. If he does not do well it 1 year and done for him riding the bus in the ECHL.

This prospect has no reason to be considered the top 12 prospect of the Winnipeg Jets. Other than playing on a stacked Seattle team that went to the memorial cup.

Yeah, Jets shouldn't have wasted a pick on him. :sarcasm:

Lets see ...... Played on a stacked team, gave them outstanding goaltending, 92.8 regular season, 93.3 PO against presumably tougher competition. But don't put too much stock in that. It was a stacked team.
Backstopped his team to a gold medal in WJC-20, 93.2. But that was a stacked team too so .........
Previous season in WHL, respectable 91.2 sv%, 92.5 in PO.

You can look farther back and see more very strong performances but there were some very small sized samples in that period.

Given his performance it is probable that the only reason he wasn't drafted much earlier is his height. At only 6' he can't be an NHL'er, obviously. But he just keeps stopping pucks. Lets see what he does against pros.

Yeah man we're at prospect #12, there are no slam dunks at this position. Good job insulting 28 people in one quick go though.

So much wrong with this post.

At 12th on the prospect depth chart, he’s proven as much or more than all the remaining prospects. Furthermore, being signed or not does not disqualify one from being a legitimate prospect. That right there is an uneducated opinion.

Why not sign him to an ELC? They're automatically 2-way... it would be cheaper for the org to have him playing on that in the AHL anyway.

Maybe they want to develop him instead of making him "prove it" in his 1st year of pro hockey

Strange take

I wonder if it has something to do with waivers... like if they sign him after this coming season, they gain another year of waiver exemption?

Or maybe to do with Salminen's waiver status???

We're also sitting at 49 contracts right now I believe (50 is the max). They're probably waiting for other things to shake out before they sign Milic and put him in the AHL/ECHL. There's no rush to this...

Edit: Capfriendly is saying we're at 42/50. I swear I read something about us being at 49... :dunno:

I didn't realize we had that many. It could also explain the hold up on Stanley and Chisholm.

Strange take……. “Maybe they want to develop him” Sure but your assuming he will play significant time I. AHL…

ECHL bound… I will be surprised if he plays significant minutes in AHL…

Well … here’s hoping!

I appreciate the sarcasm… that’s not a joke … I appreciate good sarcasm.

I also appreciate that this is a hockey futures chat page and many on this site have “Pie in the sky aspirations for our Future Jet prospects” high hopes!

I think some of you out there have “high hopes”. I also think …. That somebody made a song about “high hopes”…. That song should be many of your theme song and you should play it before you go to bed at night and then wake up to it when your alarm clock goes off in the morning!!

“He’s got highhhh hopes”

Anyhow…… I’m not pooping on Milac , I’m just being realistic. The young fellow has done fantastic with the opportunities that he had in front of him….. and I wish him the best.

I personally had higher hopes on the Russian goalie that we had a few years ago that went back to the KhL a few years ago or that tall Swede Holm that killed it in the SHL….., both of whom probably will have had a better AHL career than Milac.

Keep up the good sarcasm , it may serve you well in an argument with your wife / girlfriend. ( I hear women love sarcasm and for men to tell them truth when they ask “Does this look good?”).
