It is what it is. There are no ideal markets left. Some like to make a big stink about how Bettman/the NHL hate Canada when it comes to expansion. They obviously don’t. Canada is just out of viable markets at the current price.

A 2nd Toronto market would be very functional. Obviously, there's the issue of the leafs not wanting to give up their territory, but it would absolutely be a solid franchise.

On the flipside, would you really be attracting major growth with a 2nd Toronto team or are you just cannibalizing disgruntled leaf/Sabre fans.

There is no reason to panic as long as TNSE isn't worried about cash flow

They bought the Thrashers for $170,000,000USD in 2011. The franchise was valued last year by Forbes at $780,000,000USD

The Jets would have to lose a lot of money annually in order for those losses to exceed the annual appreciation of the franchise. Not to mention the fact that the team is only one revenue stream for the company (which doesn't include concerts, real estate development, etc)

Some of all y'all have never owned a business and it shows

TNSE essentially owns most of the downtown core as of now with plans to completely facelift it. The Jets are the centerpiece of it all and i don't think it's a stretch Chipman and co have losses baked in (so long as they're not ludicrous as you pointed out) to the equation.

less tickets being sold may not matter when people are spendng oodles of cash elsewhere in the area once the development is done.
