Last year's average attendance in Winnipeg was 13,500 which was, not counting Arizona and their 5000 seat arena, the worst in the league.
The owners must have lost a shit ton of money last season and its not looking any better this year so far.
Filthy rich owners don't stay filthy rich by hanging on to money losing businesses.

They stand to make an absolute fortune on the next round of expansion, too, never mind the bump in value of the franchise from it. The organization owns the arena, they own the surrounding real estate. TNSE will continue to make money with team in Winnipeg, while laughing about the now paltry $170 million it took them to get there. Relocation to increase gate revenues would cost them a fortune, and would require them to invest a billion+ to build an arena in that place. The team is going nowhere.

True North is a money making juggernaut. The Jets are going nowhere. Hell, the place could be damn near empty and True North would still turn a profit.

Worst case scenario is that they don't sell 2000 of the cheapest (~ $100) tickets for half the home games (20) means that they'll have to find some other way to cover Alex Iafallo's $4.0M salary.

Winnipeg does NOT need a bigger arena. They complete various renos/upgrades every year. It costs the most to build a larger arena with more upper deck seats that are also the cheapest seats and therefore don't actually bring in as much revenue when you consider they have to pay off the freaking massive costs of building said gargantuan arena.

Sub 13k during a long weekend coming off a successful season + playoffs. What gives Winnipeg? The media keeps harping on how Quebec city deserves a team but given that Winnipeg is in the smallest arena and cannot sell out consistently with a good team in a larger market - I don't see any further teams in Canada.

I was more referring to the fact CFL is big in Winnipeg and that was the bigger more important sporting event in town that night.

Manitoba's population is sub 1.5 million. Winnipeg's is under 800K.

If you look at the vast majority of the teams in the league, their home cities dwarf the population of Manitoba, many several times over.

Their attendance records should be considered a miracle.

Bomber tickets are far more than $35 average, I actually haven't seen a $35 ticket since before the pandemic. The seats I usually get are the dead last row at the 55 yard line (that's not a typo, HFAmericans) and they're like $55-60 each in the regular season and $78 in the playoffs. I think the cheapest ticket in the house is around $45? It's easy to drop $100 on a Bomber ticket, but they have the support of the city because they make the right moves. TNSE can learn a lot from them.

Basically every negative thread here can be interpreted as an excuse to troll, and yet usually they just pass by over time and resolve of their own volition rather than being closed. So “for some reason” felt valid to me, but obviously you disagree!

The crux of my post was just informing the person complaining that only Winnipeg gets this criticism that indeed there was a Red Wings attendance thread, albeit relatively briefly so they perhaps had missed it.
