Prospect Info: Wings Prospect Discussion

Ras has literally zero qualities that make him difficult to replace. The best thing he has going for him is that he's big, except that doesn't count for shit when its not uncommon for him to be the softest player on the ice and he only grows a pair maybe once every 5 games. I can see the appeal other teams may have, hes 6'6, 26 years old, a high draft pick, has taken part in 6 different seasons of NHL hockey already. If you can trade him for something of value I would pull the trigger because in reality everything that may be appealing about him as a player is overshadowed by the fact that he is as vanilla as vanilla gets and the vast majority of games he is either invisible or useless.

I may have missed this thread/discussion but the Toledo Walleye are playing for the Championship of the ECHL.

We do have a Walleye thread, but it's good to see the franchise continue to perform so well. Toledo is a really solid hockey city.

Most likely his brother will not be signed also
Yup. Sad , although I still think he has 2 more yrs or decide so you never know. God forbid we had 2 Swedish brothers joining our team making an impact and one of them is edvinsson’s best friend. Would of been a good story

We can’t have nice things 😂

MBN in a podcast a few days ago told a story from the Worlds, when he was ejected in the Denmark game. On his way to the locker room he broke four sticks and destroyed a door.

"The hit wasn't even a penalty. If I met that referee after the game I wouldn't sit here today"

He was fined by the IIHF and had to pay for the door. In other words, don't piss him off...the kid is dangerous. But a power forward should be fired up :D

I'm hoping this kid is our European Tkachuk.

Kids got to channel that hate into his game.

This is music to my ears, the Wings could use a few guys who are borderline violently competitive.

Man Yzerman really needs to dump some bodies. I don’t expect him to go crazy in free agency but should at least be spots for kids. Even if we barely add anyone next year might be buchelnikov nygard danielson lombardi all in one go year after

Makes no sense. Danielson will make the team and Lombardi/nygard might be there soon after. Gimme at least one of kreider/marchment/peterka and one of Hague/Romanov/miller I’ll be happy So long as compher, tarasenko,Rasmussen,Berggren are gone and I’m sure I’m forgetting someone

100% agree. I doubt a team would claim him off of waivers. He is, as you state, USELESS.

The visual I have of this guy going into a corner:

When Ras is playing his best, I do like him in the lineup. Problem is, it's too seldom. He's too inconsistent. As others have said, too often he is invisible. I'm a motor guy. I want players with motors. If you don't have a motor, you damn well better have some elite attribute that mitigates it. Ras doesn't have that. He's expendable.

He played his best in his contract year. If you want production out of him, sign him to a 1 year deal.

Mark my words 27-28 will be a career best for this guy.

Expendable, of course. The problem is, as we Wings fans have come to know all too well, his annual pay and contract terms, exceed his performance.
