In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord ServerAlthough I like Cossa and wanted him over Walstedt it remains to be seen who is going to end up the better goalie in their career.Another move yzer'bashers ignore is moving up to pick cossa while everybody cried he didnt take walstedt , master class in dynasty building
Nobody ignores it. Most of us "yzer'bashers" agree that his drafting has been quite good. It's everything else that has been terrible. Once again, drafting isn't enough to build a good team. It simply is not.Another move yzer'bashers ignore is moving up to pick cossa while everybody cried he didnt take walstedt , master class in dynasty building
I think his trading overall has been a plus. Outside of the Walman trade which is an obvious disaster. I just really find the pro scouting and team building to be the most suspect things. I really question what they are trying to build with a lot of the players they add.Nobody ignores it. Most of us "yzer'bashers" agree that his drafting has been quite good. Great post. Agree w all.Trading in florida, Tampa and Dallas has been a plus. It’s simply been middle of the road in Detroit. The only Truly noteworthy trade has been a 1st, Sebrango and Kubalik for Debrincat.
He had to trade Bertuzzi to get that first though.
Leddy for a 2nd was inconsequential. Then trading Leddy for sundqvist, Walman and a 2nd is inconsequential.
Trading Hronek hurt the team in the now. It might work out well in the future if ASP becomes a top 4 guy.
Walman was a loss at the end. He gave up a 2nd Detroit that was given in the Kiiskanen trade. THEN Walman returned a 1st when he was just traded by Sjc.
Trading Husso for space should have happened last offseason.
Veleno for Craig Smith and Mrazek isn’t going to get the team in the postseason.
Fabbri for De La Rose was ok depth for a couple of years but it never really got the team anywhere.
Maatta for a 3rd actively hurt this roster by making us endure Gustafsson.
Mantha for Vrana was mostly a wash, and depends on how well Cossa becomes to declare a win.
Then there’s assets used to trade up for Cossa getting Dallas 2 very good players…
What other trades am I missing?
Let’s also consider that Yzerman has not made moves to improve the team via trade the last two seasons when it’s likely some moves would have gotten the team into the playoffs.
With enough hindsight we can say that Yzerman has been shit at trades (and the lack thereof) and his FA signings have been atrocious. He's drafted well. We need more than that.
nhl gms cant come out and say improving too much too soon in a rebuild era cost you very important draft position so you resist offering better ufa big contracts that cost you long term cap space while also causing you to draft in a weaker spot which obviously might possibly seriously detract from long term success . so even though ive said this over n over the crying continues about yzermans signing , so lets deal in facts :
2021 : cry baby wing fans would have been ecstatic if yzerman signed dougie hamilton n zack zyman , but oh whoops there woulda went the 5th pick as we woulda finished better and drafted like 10th so NO EDVINSSON TODAY , but over the hill hamilton n zack would be here to get crushed in 1st or 2nd round
2022 : cry baby fans woulda loved signing trochek , johnny hockey , kadri . but gosh darn there goes kasper . mean while trochek n kadri over the hill by now !!!!!!!!!!!!!! instead weve got edvinsson n kasper for 20 years !!!!!!!
but keep thinking you know better than steve dynasty builder yzerman
Spot on. And another thing that is annoying from the "shoulda signed this guy or that guy" crowd: Maybe coveted FAs just did not want to come here?! cannot kidnap'em. And if you overpay egregiously to get them here those same ppl throw a hissy fit that we overpaid - schizo.nhl gms cant come out and say improving too much too soon in a rebuild era cost you very important draft position so you resist offering better ufa big contracts that cost you long term cap space while also causing you to draft in a weaker spot which obviously might possibly seriously detract from long term success . so even though ive said this over n over the crying continues about yzermans signing , so lets deal in facts :
