I'm not sure this has been mentioned here...

MBN is not happy with his season. He's not going to join the Norwegian national team, which is incredible. It was a tough decision for him, but he thinks it's better to stay with Skellefteå and continue his development there without any interruptions. Training and games are of course at a higher level in the SHL. At least he's working hard to improve his game, but would it be better for him to play in the AHL?
I think he should carry on with his plan and work on his game with Skellefteå, if they do not make the playoffs, he (and maybe ASP) may have time to come over and play in the AHL, and possibly be part of the GR playoff run if the timing works out and he is healthy.

Part of development is mental growth, as well as they physical game. Hopefully, the young man learns from this and listen to your GM and father.

SHL has been a great development for our guys, but Skelleftea has been a mess this year. Can't wait to get ASP and MBN out of there.
Skelleftea is 6th in the SHL and solidly in the playoffs. You thinking of another team?

I know there was a bunch of coach drama earlier in the season not sure if that has settled at all. I know the coach was fired. Not the most ideal situation for young guy growth.

SEL is a tough league for rookies and MBN plays much more of an NA game. I was not opposed to him going back this year but I think next year he is in NA for sure. He could be part of a very good GR team next year and his game is much more suited to NA hockey.

I agree MBN is made for NA hockey, I think he delivered 5-6 hits in this game a couple of days ago + some ASP good stuff...

I think everyone agrees MBN should be in GR next year

Wheeler has the Wings at #5, and includes Kasper.

His logic seems to be if you're a top Wings draft pick and you're not producing at a point per game you're destined for the middle six, and if you're anyone else, producing doesn't mean much because he's still skeptical they will make the NHL.

I do think he tries, but like anyone else he has his biases and he rarely likes Yzerman picks and seems to shape his analysis to fit what he wants to see.

I thought his analysis was pretty fair. Kasper or Danielson becoming top line centers is still a stretch. It’s possible, but they’d have to really develop perfectly. They’re safe projections. MBN as the third guy in a top 6 is pretty much exactly what I think we drafted him for. He still has us in his top 5 after graduating Edvinsson and really highlights our depth.

Scott Wheeler, copy-pasting his bad draft takes five years down the road. I don’t know why people take him seriously - it is just entertainment, it is impossible for one person to do a work of amateur scouting department. What makes it less entertaining is how seriously he takes himself - true Toronto journalist

Kasper and Danielson were drafted to be our next two centers behind Larkin, not to unseat Larkin. Makes no sense.

Key is we have a bunch of “good” players in the pool, but very little elite talent except for ASP.
I disagree. US Hockey thinks highly of Augustine for one. Trey has helped lead the US to gold at the World Cup Junior Championship twice and the U18 World Championship once. They rewarded Augustine by making him the only junior they invited to the World Hockey Championships last year becoming the 20th teenager in WHC history and the youngest US goaltender to play in the tournament. He also won the U15 national championship and was a finalist for the Mike Richter award for the best goaltender in the NCAA in his rookie year as a freshman last year.

Dude. We’re 15-4-1 under McLellan.

Do you know who is leading the way?
Raymond, Seider, Larkin, Kasper, Soderblom, Berggren, Edvinsson, Johansson.

All homegrown guys.

Also you talk about the wings having no high end talent in the pool as if most of the above didn’t graduate the last few years. Or that they weren’t ranked number 5 by Wheeler of all people.

Do yourself a favor and look up how many 30+ goal, 80+ point players have been drafted since 2017. It’s not many. The wings have one in Raymond.

Also Cat and I think Kane will start producing point per game., so Chicago give us some talent also. This would not be a good run without lyon and Talbot

I thought we were referring to our prospect pool? When did this morph into a discussion about active NHL players? I was specifically referring to our prospects.

Sheesh

Those are very recent former prospects that you've continually shit on over and over. It's not hard to go back to your post history either. The point is they're the biggest reason why this team is thriving right now (outside of Todd). You already know this though, so nice try

Maybe try to stop moving goal posts. Everyone knows your shtick

I honestly have no idea what you’re referring to. Please show me where I’ve shit on Larkin, Seider and Raymond “over and over”. I’m happy to see things seem to be moving in the right direction for Ed and Kasper, but I wasn’t even considering them in my previous comment, purely just the CURRENT prospect pool. And my previous comment still stands with that (and I would love to be proven wrong).

Like…every game day thread where you say Seider can’t play offensively, or Larkin isn’t a 1C. Or that Kasper is a bust because he had a cold streak on the 4th line…
