Pretty meh player but he at least would provide a different element to the bottom six.

"Like it or not, fighting is back"

I remember him being quite physical player in team Canada-jersey, no recolection what he looked like in NHL. But he would have the mindset to be that fighter. McLellan sure saw him close in Cali. Somebody has to be extra forward.

Lots of uncertainty last year if he would be charged for involvement with the 2018 WJC team Canada s** assault allegations (Was in the room with them)
That’s why North American options dried up for him and he ended up in KHL.

As far as fighting and toughness… people are getting carried away. He is not Austin Watson or Evander Kane. He is more like a much bigger and stronger Perron style physical pest. Plays physical and annoying, but by no means is feared by anyone.

Decent skater for his size and if I remember correctly was good on face offs.

Sounds like this is just rumor/negotiating stage and other teams like Canadiens involved.

Meh ... if we can get rid of Rasmussen etc... and he can be on the 4th line sure. Not really needed

If we get him for 3rd line and keep delaying danielson,Lombardi etc.. I’ll be pissed

Again he’s not needed

Now that the info from that trial is coming out, I think a lot of those guys are going to be getting shots back in the NHL. Comtois seems pretty clear of any issues anyways and I don't think the 2018 situation will be a worry for him.

No clue how he is as a player now, but I was pretty surprised when I looked that he's only 26. He would add some grit but I don't think he's getting a one way contract. He had 50 points and 99 pims in 62 games over in the KHL last season.

Matter of opinion. Testimony has Comtois in the hotel room watching the alleged assaults. And in the group chats. Right or wrong… I Could see some fans/media taking issue if he is signed.

Geez, I don't know. Comtois might be clear of wrongdoing, but for me, the guys on trial here are into the shit pretty deep. I don't want to debate the trial or anything, but these guys do not come off as downy innocents.

I mean, the culture in Junior hockey has got to change. The fact that something like this hasn't come before the courts in Canada is pretty alarming. I can tell you know a thing or two about Junior hockey, especially in Canada. This isn't an isolated incident. It's more the existing culture, unfortunately.

Yeah to each their own I guess, junior hockey definitely has a culture issue. But being in a room when something alleged happens, and the court case is shedding light onto the players side of things... its not necessarily right to just keep a guy out of the league forever.

I also think people see group "activities" like this as horrible because its something they would never do, but that doesn't mean some people arent actually into it.

I guess basically what I'm saying it, I've followed the court case pretty closely and I don't think Comtois is a guy that should be blackballed from the league because of what went on

Don't want anyone involved in the Hockey Canada trial anywhere close to Detroit.... I can't see Yzerman either regardless of "guilty" or not. He may have been in the room or in a group chat and may be legally in the clear, I don't see him as the type of player you should bring in with even a minor red flag.

I wont pretend to be knowledgeable about the laws or what happened that night, just seems a risk for a team that has spent resources getting rid of players over the last few years that have red flags. Seeing or knowing something and doing nothing about it is not a defense.
