Windsor Spitfires 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part V

Ya Frank was/is the main reason the Spits drafted well. Very well respected by the entire Spits organization. Unfortunately for the Spits he has moved up and rightfully so.
Maybe Spits will benefit around trade deadline,? lol.
Hunters lose their one-sided trades with the ice dogs now.
If he is as good as everyone feels he is, it was just a matter of time before he would be given the opportunity to move up. Bowler's job is now to find a replacement that can become someone else's GM in 3 years.

Off topic from Evola but noteworthy the CHL believes some of those who are leaving to the NCAA may be back by Christmas because it wasn't what they expected. Maybe true, maybe hopeful. Also, the NIL contracts do not work for INTL students on a Visa required for Canadian born players. Don't think for a second Trump will change that anytime soon. Promises of big NIL agreements will only work for US born players.

There are ways around the rules for NIL money for out of country athletes.

It's a big loss and I'll be interested to see... a) how it's filled... and b) the fallout.
Agree big loss losing Evola, had to be a great offer to go to that cesspool in Niagara, for this year's drafts except for the Euro draft Frankie was here and did his thing.
Hopefully NHL teams will see how Windsor helped Protas to the player he was this past season and influence Windsor who to select in that upcoming Euro draft, especially now that it is a 3 round draft.

Maybe, but not according to TSN who noted by nane Alalah Edward's was not allowed to participate in endorsements with UCON.

Don’t know who that is, but all these universities have to do is get a sponsor in Canada, funnel the money to them and have them to “sponsor” an athlete.

Yes " sponsors" are allowed but the level of compensation is limited to foreign student athletes

Exactly, they can’t receive the money straight from the school like American students do, but to receive the money, all the school has to do is give the money to a business in Canada, then that business in Canada is allowed to pay the athlete to promote something with the money the business received from the school.

There is absolutely ways to funnel NIL money to these CHL players, or should I say former CHL players.

Players do get money if the send out tweets if they're in Canada though.. Also reading an SI article two years ago players making big bank are usually quite generous with teammates eg dinners at steakhouses, rolex's for teammates. Usually they aren't buying cars because a dealership will give them a car for a year.

Looks like Caden Harvey has signed on. From reading the article, it seems he plans on playing here for two years, and that's when he'd take off for Penn State. Although he did say that Penn State has told him the timeline is up to him, so there's room to delay it a year I guess.

The 08 class somehow keeps getting stronger.
