Windsor Spitfires 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part V

Windsor may be a team with the assets for a George trade...but in truth be told I am not sure The Attack (or it's fan base) could stomach a trade with The Spitfires
If I’m the Attack, and George goes on the block, I take the best deal possible no matter the team. What’s he got? A year left in the league? It’s not like he’ll come back to “haunt” for years to come.

NHL? It’s a different story. But in a league where players age out, take the best deal.

Not sure I'd use the wings development model from 20 yrs ago as a standard when they've really been a poor org results wise for a decade or more .
That is very true , the results have been bit diminished. I think my eyes opened up after attending most Spitfire games this season and then attending and watching some NHL playoff pro games. The NHL is a totally different league. Every player is super fast, strong, and some the hits thrown are unbelievable. This is a men's league.
It seems the only 18-19 year old players that stick are players that have high hockey I.Q. Protas is in that club. He seems to fade when necessary but arrives on the scene when opportunity is there. His one on one skills are very impressive, however we have only seen it amongst teenagers and not 25-30 year old seasoned men.

it

its more to do with how the coach left owen sound, it was a very bad scene. he seems to have turned a leaf in windsor, well see. im sure they dont want to 'reward' that coach, but at the end of the day do what you should for the best of the team.

i can see windsor being a perfect fit but i think niagara wants him, erie would have interest. flint, maybe even sarnia if theres lots of pressure there.

Protas likely destination is the AHL . He will learn to play with men before heading to the NHL. He will learn more playing there on the 4th line than he will in the OHL. As a Spits fan I would love to see him carving up the OHL but unfortunately for me that is not likely to happen.

Hershey opens their playoffs tonight. I expect that Protas will play. It will be interesting to see his production there. If he plays like he did in Windsor, he won't be back.

Draft orientation camp this Saturday from 4pm til 630pm. Horton is the only one who is "unable to attend."
Good thing about the new NCAA rules is kids can come now and try the OHL thing out without a risk of losing their eligibility. They can also do the main camps, maybe even an exhibition game. Only outliers would be if they sign with a BCHL or USHL team .

I'm kind of surprised Bergeron is attending, assuming he doesn't change his mind. He signed the tender with Muskegon the day before the draft.

Re Bergeron he was at the Spits last game vs Kitchener and Eddie Mio is one of his agents
As for Horton he made the USDT team a 2 year commitment Spits were aware when they drafted him on draft day.
2G,8D,6F are expected here Saturday

Nice to see Joey Costanzo lead the league in goals against average in the playoffs.
Thru 12 games ave of 2.29,save percentage of .911,7-3-2 record, quite the comeback from last year when he was in the regular season 5.09 with a save percentage of .855
Interesting Parsons for Kitchener finishes with 2 72 and .908 save percentage record of 8-8.
Very unfortunate injuries and illness major contributions for Windsor not to advance furthur in the playoffs.
Windsor's record vs Kitchener and London overall was 8-7-1-1 ,3-3 vs London,5-4-1-1 vs Kitchener, after last season I will take that considering last year's season, afterall this season only Kitchener and London had more points then Windsor this past season.

Give JC 4 games against these Knights and get back to me. Rangers played the 1st, 3rd, and 13th reg season offenses, WSR the 7th and 14th. Apples and donkeys.

The Knights lost to a 4 seed in 2023 OHL Finals. Oshawa has a much better team and roster this year as compared to Peterborough. Never took you for a Knights super fan.

London is 12-0 this season and, aside from an OT game against the Otters, haven't shown any real signs of breaking the streak. Again, I'd love to see someone step up and give them a serious battle but...

I went to Quebec in 2015 to see the Memorial Cup. I was expecting to see Connor McDavid and the Erie Otters to be there. Oshawa beat the Otters and then won the Mem Cup.

London is very good, but so were the Otters. Anything can happen.

Ottawa was 14-0 before going 14-4.
