Windsor Spitfires 2024 - 25 Season Thread, Part V

Any of you worried about losing Greentree next year? 3ppg in the playoffs here 14G in 8 games. I’m sure there’s a chance. He’s signed an ELC so he can’t go NCAA.

Safe to say he remembers 2023 too. Feels like this series is personal for him and I imagine for Morneau, Christoforo, Abraham.

He mentioned it in post-game at least once. They're different teams but he didn't forget the sweep.

Five. Goals. I didn't expect that in the slightest but I'll take it. Costanzo with 27ish saves. Walters keeps saying your best players need to be your best players. They were tonight.

Game 4 on Wednesday. I'll take a win, but if they lose, close it out on Friday at home. I didn't see 3-0 coming but we alllllll know that 3-0 just gives a chance for a 4-3 comeback.

So either way..

wow, 3-0 series lead, did not see that coming.

Historic performance by Greentree. I think he's the first Spitfire ever to score 5 goals in a playoff game. He's just an insane sniper.

Spitfires have now outscored the opposition 44-16 in 8 playoff games! Insane considering they are playing with 5 08's and five regulars out with injury. Cole Davis exited in the 3rd and did not return. Could be down 6 regulars for game 4.

Wyatt Kennedy has been great on defense with a + 11 rating. That was a huge acquisition and he should be back next season. Abraham has been outstanding.

Morneau, Greentree, and Protas is the best line in the CHL. Greentree and Protas lead the CHL in playoff scoring.

Protas tracker: 48 points in his past 15 games.

Well this team keeps surprising me in the playoffs . Exciting for sure. Praying there is no ghosts from 2010 to haunt us remembering we rallied from a 3'0 deficit against Kitchener. Not this time!@ Greentree and Protas unreal dynamic duo. Let's give more credit to Joey and this young D. They got 31 shots on Joey. Clearly he is a major factor to the success back to pre holiday break form. GO SPITS GO

I believe it's NHL or OHL next season so, barring some weird happenings, he's back. Though, it also wouldn't be unfamiliar territory for us...
While I think he has done everything in the O, I don't think he is ready for the show. I see LA keeping him for a few games and returning him in October. I also see him playing in the World Juniors. Two years from now, I see him playing in the A and coming up midseason.

I agree. I don’t think it’s a high percentage however it’s definitely not 0.

Kings would be incredibly stupid not to at the very least try him out in the big league for a couple games.

Also 6’3 216 so that helps- has the size already even if he’s not the most physical guy he doesn’t seem to shy away from when I’ve been watching spits games.

Looking forward to seeing him at the world juniors too which I’m sure he makes unless Dave Cameron is back and you never know what’s going on in his mind.

I still think his skating is a little bit off from the NHL, honestly an AHL year next would probably put him there, but… yay for us for the CHL/NHL Agreement.

What an insane game. Tried to get Protas the empty netter the shift before, could’ve had 5 then… and made the unselfish play.

That’s our captain.

100% the right call. I don’t know if I’ve watched an OHL team with a better one. Hell, I’ve bought in. GO SPITS GO!

I never saw this coming. I felt Windsor would win this series but never in this fashion ( yes I know it is not over yet).
Greentree's play is contagious. Watch the play of Garden, Hicks, Lemieux and Robinson. They are amped up and feeding off of their captain. The Spits will go as far as Greentree and Costanzo can carry them.
Hope Davis ok. Can't drop back to 5 top 6 forwards.

Wonder if Kitchener has any life left? Need to finish this Wednesday and not give Kitchener a shread of hope.

Greentree/ Protas returning/ not returning for me is a debate for another day. Going to enjoy the moment. Bar just keeps raising for the Spits. If they could just get healthy and stay healthy it might end better than I ever thought it would.

Very proud of the players in this series so far, especially considering the growing injury list this team is going thru,Protas,Greentree and Morneau line unstoppable so far, interesting Greentree gets 5 of the 6 team goals last night and not 1 of them was the game winner,Protas scored the team's 4th goal to wind up with the winner, his line had 12 points last night,6 by Greentree, 4 by Protas and 2 by Morneau.
The next man up attitude of this team so far has been unmatchable as it relates to injuries.
Costanzo pretty dialed in overall now 7-1 in the playoffs, playoff average of 1.97 and ..920 save percentage, and in this series so far 1.66 average with a save per of.922.
Special teams are doing well ,and this team has allowed only 3 5 on 5 goals this series.
Nice to see team improve their play on the road 2 straight wins including game 4 at SSM and last night.
Hope Davis is ok, him included injury list now stands at 8
Mathurin, Woodall,Spellacy, Davis,Winegard, Costello,Belchetz and Outwater.
Should note Kitchener has 1-Mizeljevik.
1 game at a time is my motto, would like to finish things off Wednesday no looking ahead.

They say it is all about timing, and these aforementioned individuals seem like they are peaking at the perfect time. Kudos to each and every one of them, they are playing like beasts out there. Go Spits Go!
