Windsor Spitfires 2024-25 Season Thread, Part IV

Mathurin's interview at the end of the game he mentioned that there are still some players trying to get over the flue. I wondered that as skating seemed sluggish from some throughout the game. Abraham hardly played in the 3rd. Wonder if he is one of those affected?

Bs safe.

Walters said after the game that they could only practice last Thurs because of the flu. It might take a bit to get through everyone and return to health.

So ole Stan is gone. Being honest im surprised he lasted this long, old school to the core!
Kinda surprised Hunter hasn’t been nailed, ive heard some very colourful comments out of his mouth, albeit not at the rink, but he can be pretty crass.
Been around many of those old guys over the years, it was real crazy

I wonder if some teams are more willing to rock the boat than others.

Can't say I'm too thrilled seeing the ticket prices leap that high on top of them reducing the amount of free playoff games when you renew early as well.

I'm not loving that, either. I'd love to know WHY it's happening but I'm not sure we'll get an actual answer.
I'm a STH but don't even remember how much they were last year. It's what an extra $40-50 bucks? I have no issues with that. Especially considering the team is expected to be elite next season.

EDIT: I just looked it up, season tickets have increased by a whopping $35 for the season. Is it really something to get upset about?

I don't love the increase but I'm more curious than anything. If you're going to increase prices, it would be nice to know why. Just like if it drops a bunch, a reason why would be nice, too.

I mean I guess but it's $35. Maybe due to the increasing costs in running a junior hockey program? Not really sure a small increase requires an explanation.

Must have to play for the speakers that blast the music loud..

Organization won't say squat..

Well considering I pay for two seats, that's now $70.

The entire first round used to be free when you renewed by a certain date. It is now only the first two games. Each game costs $20 per ticket. Yet again, I pay for two seats. That's an extra 40-80 dollars (depending on the length of the series) on top of the money being shelled out for a (hopefully deep) playoff run. Which means it could potentially cost me almost $150.

Am I allowed to be upset about that?

Being upset is a pointless emotion. It gets you nowhere, you have no say other than to not renew. Besides, who wants to listen to people whine about costs? Nobody. Just decide whether the entertainment is worth the price of admission and make your decision. The end. Gas is up, food is up, the price of EVERYTHING is higher. Spits costs are up. Hotels, restaurants, fuel, bus rental, driver wages etc. etc. costs have to be covered. It’s the price of admission.

Prices are up across the board but I guarantee people will get annoyed around the city if you raise gas prices 15-20C a liter overnight. People are going to vent about prices, regardless of whether it's the Spitfires, another team, another entertainment option, a part of daily living, and the list goes on. Raising ticket prices is going to raise eyebrows, whether it's expected or not.

Raise eyebrows, ok to what end or conclusion? Because it makes you feel better? Get annoyed for what? It’s a simple thing, answer two questions? Can you afford it? Is it worth the price of admission? Answer no to either and don’t renew. The whole exercise of complaining or venting about pricing is just weak.

Humans get emotional, they're going to vent and go "what the heck?" at times. Nothing about that is abnormal. We've all had something we like increase (significantly or otherwise) in price. I don't know many that would go "oh, well, that's life. Onto the next..."

Ok, keep whining just to hear yourself whine. Nobody wants to listen to people complain. Many do it anyway. All I’m saying is it’s pointless and a weak emotion to succumb to. Be stronger, accept realities you can’t change and act based on your ability to and willingness to pay. It’s a simple concept. Whiners always whine and get nowhere by whining.

Yes you can be upset. I have a friend who has 4 seats for him, a family member and 2 friends for networking purposes. Yes some is a tax write off but very little. He's also missing 4 games coming up due to a vacation which was planned over a year in advance. He can't sell them and he said he wasn't pleased with this. Season tickets are a racket investment. If you want Lions season tickets you're wise to sell 2 or 3 games a year to supplement playoff tickets or future seasons

Who's whining? I'm saying people are allowed to go "what the heck?" when prices increase significantly (for them). Going by the comments on here, I'm not the only one who thinks this, either.
