I'd say constantly jumps in the play on rushes or leads the rush as opposed to just "pinching". LK system encourages D to be part of a 5 player Nuetralzone/OZone attack and many of the D ( over the last 10 years) often end up under the hash marks be it pn a PP, a rush, a cycle....a style they started after Chicago was successful activating their D during their successful years. They've done it for years and yes some get more rope than others but all are encouraged to support the Fs in the O zone or in the nuetral zone on rushes. Works well when the 5 skaters support each other. If they don't that's when odd number rushes against can happen obviously. If the team as a whole in Windsor is in sync and supporting the offensive ad in activating it's no big issue. ( no idea if they are here)
Not sure how many of his goals/points are a result of "pinching" as opposed to cycling in a system, blasting away from the point on a PP or leading supporting a rush but it would be interesting to see.

Windsor is winning games. So someone is doing something well often enough :) But we all know the 2nd half of a season presents different challenges. Spits set up very well thou. Well done.
The best D I have seen in the OHL was Bryan Berard. He pinched, he played below the hash marks. He was also a one man zone exit and led the rush and played with an edge. He also had 50 total goals in 2 years. I don't think it matters how they produce unless they are a PP merchant.

Well I'm sure this is directed at me but head back to my posts and tell me where I praised the offensive numbers by the D???!
Reread my posts where I talk about the defensive improvement by our D this year.
Talk about taking something out of context and try to prove your dislike for some of the D.
The reason why Dickinson gets lots of points is he constantly pinches. That is heavily criticised here. You can't belittle a player for doing it and then praise another for doing it? Enough rant for now. Be safe.
I don't keep an eye on all posts. There is some nuance in regards to things. Dickinson is an elite performer. With individual production and team success also comes more freedom. Cristoforo has improved is this due to better talent and coaching? Yes but he has improved as well. Expectations are different for 1st rounders in every sport. Cristoforo had some work to do still.

4th Rd Pick in Jenken, 2 Seconds, 2 Thirds, 2 Fourths and a Fifth for a 3 month rental…

If that’s the cost, I really hope we’re not buying. I wonder how this affects the market. Did London set the price? Or is the rest of the West contenders going, we’re not paying, and London’s set, give us your best price or we’re not buying?

I really hope we continue to build around next season.

Does Kitchener have an open import spot? They’re really the only Western team I see trying to keep up with London. I’m not saying let’s ship Protas, but if he’s not back… he’s the best asset we have. It would kill our offense production but… ya know?

Game day Windsor hosting Guelph
final game prior to Christmas break.
A couple of things, wouldn't surprise me if Michael Newlove is dressed as the backup to Costanzo tonight as Windbiel played for La Salle last night allowing 4 in a 5-3 empty net goal game vs Listowel.
One player who didn't dress for La Salle last night was 06 born forward Jak Thiessen from the county leads team with 15 goals makes me wonder if he dresses as the 11th forward for Windsor tonight as Spellacy, Belchetz and Outwater not expected in the lineup and I am not sure if Walter's wants to go with 10F and 8D,and use Winegard or Manzo upfront,I would go with Manzo more quicker skater, one game I could see it,guess we will see.
As for the game take nothing for granted Guelph just dealt Cam Allen their best dman another one Budnick a tough OA is out with an injury from the backend, big Euro forward Alriksson just got dealt and Luchenko their best forward is with Team Canada.
Push the foot to the pedal in this one, don't play a game in 9 days after this one

Looking for the Spits to play the way they did Saturday. Hoping they don't play like the Did Friday.....

Per Twitter - Storm are starting rookie G Colin Ellsworth in goal tonight, their 3rd rounder this year. He's had an interesting six appearances so far, but hasn't had a full 60 minutes since mid-October.

He's going to start but I get the feeling he won't finish. 8-1 Spits

I think having Mathurin to rehabilitate Cristoforo was wise. That being said next year Cristoforo should be able to be a top pair D and he should be the one helping his partner to be better.
Honestly, Cristoforo is in our top pairing all this year. If defense is the requirement to be top pairing, I'm nervous if we don't have 2 new D to fill that designation next year. If offense is what he is to teach, then yes he is your man. Don't get me wrong, his will and ability to block shots and pass attempts is top notch, which seems to be his answer to checking the carrier or clearing the crease. It is effective unless the slide job goes awry with a pass or shot getting by. It also leaves us vulnerable by the time he gets back to his feet and back into position. Even re-watching the win last Saturday our own commentators mentioned usually coaches don't want their D dropping down to block pass attempts.

I would think Windbiel is the backup tonight only based on JC liklely starting and Georgetown has 3 games Dec 20,21,23 all on the road including Buffalo. Then their off until Jan 5 where you might see Newlove during Georgetown's break. If Froggett still out for the 6 games in 9 days after the break which all 6 games are crammed with the 6th game on Jan 5

Sucks for Spellacy. Selfishly we need him for the 6 in 9 stretch but was really hoping that he could squeeze onto their roster for his development and confidence. He was always considered an outside chance thus year. Hard to say how much TEAM USA holds players back based on the choice the player headed north for their junior career, was almost always an issue for Russian CHL players.

Lots of regulars out, time for a few others to step up. Guelph might be near the bottom of the standings, but hope this squad has learned from past mishaps this season and doesnt take any team lightly. Need to come out playing strong well rounded hockey and a full 60 minutes.

Hope to see Costanzo play another strong outing, especially with a few defenceman and others out. Lets get another W heading into the holidays, just hope to see a good hockey game tonight and an honest, good team effort from the boys.

Considering the Mish Mash of the line up they seem to be playing fine. #12 needs to pick his spots better but if the officials don't make the calls then the players start doing their on policing.

Seems to be when Monette is officiating

I don't think I've seen many officials look like they care less during a game. Win or lose, you're going to see a show from him.

I've said this before, I'll say it again - they don't count "pretty points" in the standings. Nothing about that game was high-octane hockey. It was sloppy, chippy, line-jumbled, and slow... but they came away with two points.

More later...
