IMHO Greentree is a late/first early/2nd pick. As a Bud fan he’s not the type of guy I want. I kinda expect them to trade down or trade their first.
I do wish Greentree well wherever he goes.

no player will say a negative thing about anyone public, let’s be honest.

I’m not saying anything pro or negative about bowler, but public statement see rarely the truth. just a cliche request answer…give 100 percent, gotta work hard and give our all. I love playing here and being with all my teammates…etc.

I get that but, at the same time, when a player specifically says Bowler was a factor for him to sign... that's not cliche. The quote could have been "I loved the facility, the teammates, and the city. I look forward to working with everyone" and that wouldn't have mentioned Bowler while still doing the trick. I know that Bowler isn't well liked but I also can't dismiss some of the positives that are pointed towards him. That's all.

anything said publically is a cliche. I see it and agents say as much. agents are the only ones who know the truth. a writer could ask what impact Donald duck had in you singing in Windsor and the reply would have been the same…Donald duck is a gear mentor, blah blah blah

Actually it is a cliche. Every prospect says that about every gm it's a canned response. So it doesn't bother you that an NHL executive thinks highly of a player but thinks very little of his supporting cast?

I was watching Windsor play an eastern team and knew the player being interviewed hated playing there and wanted out. the player was asked about the team, organization, etc and did nothing other then talk glowingly about everything in the organization. I text the agent with a bit of a joke about it and he replied ‘what do you expect him to do, tell the truth’. agent is right, no
One tells the truth when speaking publicly, taking that stuff at face value is silly and forcing optimism.

greentree could love windsor and bowler, but his public comments are worthless, no one tells the truth

Ive been preaching this for some time! BB is simply not a likeable guy, his actions often strengthen that feeling. He will hurt this team more than help. Kids play here in spite of him. I’ve personally sat with numerous players, parents…. The opinion is not good but Windsor is a place players like to play so they come.
His first year I experienced his "charm" at a Windsor Spits hosted HC off season event. Left super unimpressed and word with guests, staff, volunteers (coaches, skill development, scouts, parents said the same) ya hear alot in dressing rooms.
Maybe it's changed since his first year but doesn't sound like it here from nuetral posters without interests in keeping access.

It is cliche. Praise the hand that signed ya.
Or the player is playing the game and puckering up.to the decision maker? No idea if true but the org has shown if ya be loyal n tow the line it pays off ( player TOI, coaching decisions across the board.....)
Why not play the media kiss butt game?
Cmon you know why they say what they say and to take it with a grain of salt at the very least.

Flipping your response one could ask why the quote wasnt the mention of city, facility, teammates, coaches, support staff..... hhmmmmm

There are a lot of quotes that I laugh at and ignore. "We gotta get pucks deep, play our game, and get shots on net." All that stuff is just funny to listen to. But, sometimes, when a player mentions specific people, my ears perk up a bit. Maybe it's still cliche, but maybe it's something actually going right for the club for once. They didn't sign this many players until well into camp last season. Again, as I mentioned before, Bowler has always given me a weird vibe but, if he's able to recruit players, props to him for that. He has two major items left on the list this summer. What does he do?

Are you serious? Do you realize how many countless NHL’ers owe their careers from the mentorship, guidance and skills coaching Donald has provided over the years? That duck should be in the HOF.

it’s confirmation bias, no different then you needing every free agent, a la Ryan Struthers, be be more then it is, we’re on year 9 of ‘he could be the next digiacinto!

great quality to have as a person, not the best quality if your judging a hockey team.

I can see tree in Detroit. But honestly hes still got some work to do. Skating is a bit below typical first round guys.
You are correct and his own zone coverage needs major work. I am not busting on him but realistically those are areas nedding major improvement to make the NHL. He did not have a good U18 tournament. Was a 13th forward some games. I can see him back this coming season and next. Especially if someone like the Wings draft him. Yzerman in no rush to bring in draft picks quickly. Top 10 picks the last 2 years haven't had a sniff yet in the big league.

I agree if Detroit and probably many others draft Liam Greentree that he will play in the OHL the next 2 years ,which will be good for Windsor imo .
He was this past season the highest scoring player that was drafted in the 2nd round 34th overall,a steal by Bowler, and while he has things to work on 90 points,36 goals double the points from his 1st season,25 even strength goals is indication of his skills, get stronger and faster would be my goals for him,not that he is slow, and he does have on ice vision based on his 54 assists this past season.
Looking to this coming season I hope he plays with Belchetz and Abraham .

Agree he had a great year, production tailed of a bit after the trade deadline as one would expect especially after Peer was moved. After being drafted, he can refine his 200 ft game and leadership without worrying about scouts and pure offensive numbers. Great kid.
