Is Onuska injured like he may have tweaked the same nagging injury from last season? Originally a late scratch a couple of weeks back due to "illness" the longer this goes the more questions it raises. Re Medina last year. Just curious to the real status. I was watching the game last night remembering when Costanzo was acquired Bowler said they could be our tandem in the future before Downey was traded. Hell, I'd settle for that right now lol
I think it was the right move trading Downey. Chances are he would still be struggling here and really needed the change. When you come into your first camp with Spitfire pads it makes it seem like he figure he already had a spit with the team and didn’t have to earn it.

Actually from what have been told by more then one source,it is a different injury that is keeping Onuska out of the lineup, could see another couple of weeks before he returns.
Downey has played very well for Erie for the most part, unfortunately he struggled in camp, exhibition season, and in La Salle at the start of the year,so the Spits moved on from him and stayed with Onuska.
Good to hear it is not the same injury. Hopefully he can come back mentally and physically rested.

ESPN hockey insider John Buccigross tweeted a picture of Shane Wright in reference to the Bo Horvat trade discussions, suggesting there is a chance Seattle considers trading Wright for Horvat. If this hypothetical trade were to happen, I don't believe Vancouver would call up Wright to the NHL so they could avoid using a year on his three year entry level contract. Buuuut I have to ask, is there even a slim chance the Canucks would call up Wright? I mean they are one stupid organization. Don't think Seattle will trade him but anything can happen.

I've seen Wright's name mentioned a couple of times in the past week regarding the Canucks. In theory, they could call him up, but I'd hope that Vancouver would at least talk to the Spitfires before attempting that.

I don't believe he can be called up, other than an emergency basis. That can only be 5 games. Once he is assigned to a junior team they hold him until their season is done.

Even if Wright could go back up to the NHL, I think it’s less likely on Vancouver.

If the rest of the season goes well Vancouver will be a bottom seeded playoff team. Makes zero sense at all to burn a year of your top prospects entry level deal for MAYBE 3 playoff games.

Part of the reason I think Johnston stuck was that Dallas is making a run and he’s providing value immediately. Even with Johnstons NHL stats, I’m not sure he makes his way onto a team that is at the bottom of the standings, because you’re burning an unnecessary year of team control, and lower cost, for what?

Wright is here for the season, let’s just hope he stays healthy…

Can confirm this - Wright is in the OHL for good this year.
I know as per the CHL NHL player agreement, once an NHL team sends a player back to the CHL they cannot be recalled, however it doesn't mention if that also applies if that player is traded to another NHL team, which is why I was asking.

Excited for the long road trip, builds team chemistry getting late into the season. See Savard is changing the top lines already after Zero losses, its always been his style so hopefully it works out for us this year. I'd prefer to build line chemistry. Keep lines together. Especially when everything is going well. But it is what it is. I'm happy to see Joey in net again, should be a tough opponent tonight, the Colts are definitely a Solid team out of the East and it should be an exciting contest tonight. Let's hope for a 60 minute good effort by our skaters. Hope to see an offensive, Physical game.

Go Spitfires Go!!👍🥅🏒

Wow this offense is crazy. Bad d-zone coverage tonight though. Every time they have the 4th line out Barrie has all the pressure.
