Go big or go home Dubas..... get Eichel for Marner. He and matthews could be like having Sakic and Forsberg. Malkin and Crosby.

There is less risk in not doing it... if Eichel doesn't recover from injury, dubas just joins a long list of gms who made dumb moves.
He’s already there.

The Leafs have 6 draft picks combined in the 2021 and 2022 drafts.

With the way Dubas has navigated the team - winning now is the only option.

any significant add would imply another 1st rounder+ out the door. I dont have faith in the way the cap structure and team is constructed. wasting assets on a flawed roster means going back to the burke/nonis era darkness

What’s scary about this reality, many felt the only way the Leafs top heavy salary cap would work was a steady inflow of cheap young players to augment the lineup. Leafs fans are in for a big surprise once this last group of youngsters graduate, there isn’t much left and obviously little coming with these paltry picks..

Both Sandin and Lily are RFAs after this season. the qualifying offers for both would be around 2 million

if Rielly walks as a UFA that will give some cap relief but then you lose a solid D that you will have to replace from UFA/Trade anyway...

Its just going to get even more of a JOKE. Only thing that might help is Kessel;s 1.2 million will be off the books after this upcoming season

Hope we find out one day but it seems the closer we think we’re getting the farther away they are.
They just have to get over that hump. Hopefully its sooner than later

Right because we've been so close over the decades
They could bow out early for the next 5 years and people will still be making excuses and pointing to stats
I'm not sure what that exactly has to do with people complaining about winning a cup, if that were to happen but okay?
Find a way to complain? Not like you have to look far. Talking about winning the cup like our biggest rival and worst team to make the playoffs didn't make us just look like an absolute joke by making the finals.

There is a lot of valid reasons to complain about this team, we need to stop just following blindly, 5 first round exits or not making the playoffs at all is pathetic.
I can't believe I have to explain this. It was a joke, about some Leafs fans always being unhappy and finding something to complain about that not even winning a stanley cup would satisfy them. Judging by your response and quickly getting upset about what I said, I don't think I was too far off
wtf have we done that resembles anything close to winning a cup? No playoff series wins in 20 years and the longest cup drought in history?
We haven't won anything but the point of my post was never " we are so close!". It was a joke about how some Leafs fans will always be unhappy, regardless of what happens.

Dude if the leafs won the cup any complaining would be treated accordingly

Dubas has traded 3 first round picks. One was for Muzzin, who wasn't healthy for two of three playoffs. One pick was the Marleau move and didn't help the team any. And the last was for Foligno who litrally did nothing in his time here.

By anyone's definition 3 1sts in three years on the job is mortgaging the future. The assets returned in those deals have done next to nothing when the games really matter.

It's one thing to mortgage the future of you get back pieces that can help. Dubas' returns have thus far been a waste and only one of them has a chance to help the team going forward. Sad look for the first time GM.

If Dubas has a mind at all he would be going to teams who have good players that they will probably lose, like Pittsburgh, and stock up. A prospect and a 7th for McCann who will probably be destined for 3rd line. If I can trade a C+ prospect for a legit NHLer, I'm doing that all day every day. We have plenty of C+ prospects that we can deal.
