It’s getting exhausting watching this lazy, stationary defense every game. The goalies aren’t doing us any favors, but combined with the poor structure, it feels like every opponent possession is gonna be a goal.
I don’t know if part of it is the shoulder or not and trying to avoid contact. But also he wasn’t great 5-on-5 pre injury and I don’t think Taffoli and him work.

Unacceptable every time. Thats the coaching IMO. Players have the talent here, coach has to get them amped for the game

Yep, we're going to be an endless mission to find this guy a winger like Sid's 20-30's until he got Guentzel. Toffoli doesn't have the high end speed to be good with him 5v5.
Ruff chose to leave him out there against McDavid. He’s a teenager. Something is wrong.
At the risk of sounding like a lot of posters that piss me off, if you need the coach to get you amped up for a game you might not be a great player. We've had this problem for two years now, it might just not be in some of these guys to bring it from the opening whistle
Just switch Nico and Jack temporarily and see if him, Haula and Taffoli can grind teams. And then let Jack and Bratty play together.
I think that Edmonton gets some credit for that fast start. Is it my imagination that Luke rode the bench for much of that period ?

Just turned on the game and saw the goal highlights. Does Luke need to have a rest for a game or two? Back to back games with brutal turnovers leading to goals.
and he got a bad bounce - the 2 defensemen were not on the same page.
But if Smith goes to the front of the net the turnover is covered. No reason to circle behind the net as Luke was taking it out the other side.
Only played about 5 minutes, but he did have the same number of shifts as Smith and Nemec
