William Nylander

Great graph, particularly for a Nylander. Note he's higher up, the offensive side skews, but look at his left side defence numbers, literally one of the worst both teams. That's this guy in a nutshell, great offensively player, complete liability defensively, dining on others to bail out his lacklustre effort.

A rink is 200 ft for a reason

I would be curious to see some TOI related stats such as time spent in own zone, 2+ min shifts

All your shift information can be found here at Dobber frozen pool.

Just look up Nylander

From there you can see all his shift data but not location.

For time in each zone I would just take his shift starts and multiply by time on ice and that should give a pretty good rough estimate of how much time he spent in each zone.

Another good proxy is to take CF%, which is total shot attempts, and use that as a guage for how much time he spent in the offense vs defense zones... shot attempts track zone data well so it gives a good rough estimate.

He and Marner are on the ice for around 2/3 of the hockey game. Both want nothing to do with physical hockey. Hard to change a culture when 2/3 game you have guys on the ice skating around the perimeter.

Good to see that DarkWing (?) CAPS LOCK and Brave Canadian are still around after last night, thought you were waiting to see where Marner ends up to start rooting for that team instead, but I was wrong! Now, go full on protective mode and put this all on Nylander for 5 months

It is interesting. Individual defence above average, team defence well below.

Whatever man now you want to roast Nylander. Maurice figured Berube out and he didn't switch up. Nylander is not McDavid but if you can get him a matchup or linemates that are better he does well.

There is a reason he was good in the first two. Basically gave us the lead in the series and Marner and Matthews even when they were playing against lesser competition did nothing.

I remember when wake'n'bake meant fresh muffins in the morning.

What on earth are you talking about? All I did was respond to a poster asking where to find information on Nylander's time on ice and line usage... I made no commentary on him whatsoever. Maybe try understanding what you're reading before responding.

Just because the phone fits in one hand and the bong in the other doesn't mean you should use them both at the same time.

Terribly defensively. However he plays with JT who is just as bad. Should have evened out the lines. Matthews with Nylander, JT with Marner. Not sure why year after year we go down the same path of playing playoff chokers Matthews and Marner together. It all ends the same way.

Congrats on Marner having a game score better than Nylander. Let's look at his ACTUAL score card vs Florida

1 (flukey) goal, 4 assists, -1, 8 shorts

Nylander's?
3 goals, 3 assists, -1, 17 shots all while playing with the ghost of JT and 0 offense Holmberg for stretch's.

Yeah Nylander was garbage the last few games, he's not top 3 on the list of trash that costed us this series. Mitch however is right up at the top with his lover AM34.

Nylander got game adjusted like a big boy and got roasted. Still had some looks here and there but basically got pushed out of the series and Matthews and Marner could not enter it in any meaningful way. (Excuse me, the one game 6 winner, the second coming of Gretzky to Lemieux '87 all over again).

Every team has a 4th wheel and Willy can always be my 4th wheel .. he can play as a 1 wheel but he chooses not to like games 5-7 .. but teams can only afford 1 of these type not 4 like JT Mitch and Matty

Yep, shutdown Nylander and look at the result.
Barkov by the way ended +2 for the series.
Last 4 games 0 goals, 3 assists.

One thing Nylander need it’s with JT, he wins draws. Imagine his D with an average center. They also shelter him zone wise.

Why do Nylander whatever wich coach was here, no one was really liked Nylander-Matthews matchup because they are not good at all together...

Nylander is an unidimentionnal player playing 100 feet of the ice. Yeah Jt was bad but disn't explain how he was playing. Completly disengaged in the defensive side

Its an exemple of 2023 but everytime he had been in the defensive end vs Florida, he's exactly looking like way. Every f***ing shift. That's not about Jy, pacioretty/ holmberg or anyone else, it's about Nylander lack of working and affraid to pay the price ro help his team. The impact is much higher than what he did on the ice, that's completly destroying every kind of momemtum...

Exemple Domi step in get a good shift
laughton line step in and get a good shift
Matthews line step in and get a good shift

and Nylander step in and play like that and gave back all the momemtum to panthers who come back with 3-4 good shift.... Nylander came back and still play like shit and increase Florida momemtum and confidenc3.

How do you want to create anything kind of momemtum when one of your key player is completly off over 70% of the series? You don't create momemtum by getting a scoring chance off the rush and missed it maybe 2-3 time a game... What's created momemtum is winning your battle, giving big hit and all those thing who starting with working..
So yeah overall with his atttittude and lack of work, the negative impact of Nylander had been higher than anyone else because his impact was way higher than the number on the sheet... He was a team killer

Nylander's value is sky high right now, we should absolutely take the best deal we can get for him.

He is more of the same as the other Fraudsters.

They give more effort defensively, he gives more effort offensively, same result and same player.

He had the game on his stick two nights in a row with breakaways on Bob in game 3/4, he failed to win it in game 3, he failed to tie it in game 4 and then he just gave up.

Yes, "he just gave up" so badly that in the last three games he was second in shots, his centre was third, and the three assorted left wingers were fourth, fifth, and sixth.
By comparison Marner was ninth, his centre was first and his left winger was sixth.
