William Nylander

he's been trash too.

maybe the most unclutch player on this team rn, has like 3-4 breakaways and misses them all.

Idc about linemates or anything, he's had 0 points b2b games now and another dash game.

He was no good
He was skating fast on offense.

If he is the most unclutch player, lets hope for your sake they bench him next game, or put him on fourth line. He might enjoy not having to play with Statler and Waldorf.

Let the fantastic M and M figure this out.
Unclutch wouldn’t be the right word but at the end of the day he’s been just as productive as the rest of them the last couple games.

Willy at least has moments in the these big games and doesn’t get pushed out. The other two get pushed out every single time and have no positive moments. Last night wasn’t a surprise it was expected.

At the end of the day Matthews is 15th in playoff scoring and Nylander is 4th.

I’m ok with making an exception for Willy here being unlike the others.

Just referring to the past two games where they are letting the series slip away. More than one or two can be held accountable, they all haven’t been good enough

I get it. But where Nylander hasn’t been a difference maker for two games, Matthews hasn’t been a difference maker commensurate with his mandate for two times two times two games.

Tanev came out and owned his personal shortcomings.

Matthews aggregated his within the team’s. Even in his interviews he seeks escape from personal accountability and I don’t think it’s just to mistake Nylander as being the same in any context.

Watching him with his arms down and literally standing there Game 3 winning goal, that’s inexcusable and he’s been shit since too. The flow doesn’t get a pass fanboys, sorry.

He’s been the best of the core, he also doesn’t do shit when it matters most either.

If your most unclutch player is your second line RW and you still score nothing. Then there must be at least 5F + 4D that are even unclutchier. Thats all.

You’re wrong (again), but that’s ok

When you're fourth in LEAGUE scoring during the playoffs and LEAD your club in playoffs points the last five years and are routinely dismissed as the "third wheel" behind the so-called prime pair of movers on the club, "the flow" absolutely gets a pass, with impunity.

No one player, except goalies at pantheon level play that produces shutouts, can pull its so-called leaders out of the fire, game after game after game after game after game after game...

M and M were worse sure, but that doesn’t excuse the lack of finish on nylanders part, he had yet another 0 points and we lost. He’s going in the shit category like everyone else.
Nice post, now get a clue
LOL, dude has b2b 0 point games and has missed like 4-5 breakaways in the past 3 games. Just because Matthews and Marner have been worse doesn’t mean this man has been good.
He was skating fast on offense.
And nothing got done. I dont care all that much about defensive play from him, but if no goals are being scored than any player is useless, including him.

I just don’t get why everyone has to pick sides, there’s the Marner fans who are always talking shit about nylander through backhanded remarks and will deflect anything away from Marner, and then there are nylander fans who act like 88 can do nothing wrong and isn’t expected to lead the team on offence.

He is one of a few players that actually looks competitive out there. Not sure what you are talking about. Marner doesn't even look like an NHL player right now and Matthews can't hold his stick, so the injury is probably real.

Disappointing for sure! At least he tried and created chances, while being one of the top goals/points-getters this playoffs + having the most goals and points in elimination games of your core.

And, he’s not up for a new contract, thinking he should be paid with Drai-money, so he’s got that going for him at least!

Did you go into Marners and Matthews threads too, calling them out? Who’s been Leafs biggest offensive threat this playoffs to you
Yes…yes I have

Again, trying isn’t enough JT has tried every day for the past 7 years and that contract is still a massive overpayment.

Nylander was top of the elite for the first 9 games. What’s happened the last 2? Where did all the finish go? He’s gotten multiple breakaways and hasn’t scored one.

Just because he was good in prior elimination games doesn’t mean he was good this one.

Funny thing is I don’t even think Marner should make more than him.

Matthews injury excuses don’t cut it. He played most the season, he played at 4 nations for some reason. He’s healthy enough to not play like a jackass

Marner is leaving, I don’t care about him anymore

Nylander looked competitive sure, but what got done? Did he or his linemates score? That’s the end result that matters. The effort and competitiveness was there but nothing actually got done. He had 0 points, the line had 0 points. We scored 1 pity goal.

A few games into the playoffs I put the expectations of leading the offence onto nylander and took it away from Matthews. He can’t go b2b games with 0 points.

BS. He hasn't delivered when we needed it most. He doesn't get a hall pass. And I said he's was the best of the big guns so I think I'm being fair.

For the people that are criticizing Willy...
How do you feel about AM34 or MM´s performance? Shoot them out of a cannon? Gulag? Gallow?

Nylander hasn´t been perfect, but out of all our superstars, he´s the only one that deserves some slack.
No player is above scrutiny, granted, but Willy has been delivering the goods.

The way I saw it.

Once the depth determined Marner and Matthews and Rielly weren't into it. They gave up and it was just a full sail collapse after that.

Yes I've been criticizing them in every thread, why are you even bringing them up. Can I critique JT too, or must I confine myself to two players. Can I say Reilly was an absolute f***ing tire fire last night or do I remember his three goals and he gets a pad now? Willie's effort on the game winner in game 3 was horrendous and he's done jack really since, that's fair.

Nylander should receive a fair amount of criticism after last game, this is true. The only reason I am not nearly as pissed at him as I am with the rest of the core is because he did look like he was giving it his everything yesterday, and the fact that he had a major part in us going up 2-0 this series.

If he can have another big game 6, everything will be forgiven. The only problem is that Florida is well aware that Nylander & Knies are likely to be the only ones that can take this series to 7 games, which is why they will be heavily guarded.
