William Nylander

Meh, I haven't seen it in the postseason more than a game a series. He was healthy in 2022, was that a gamebreaker series ? No, otherwise we would have won lmao.

Not even close. Produces with Kerfoot as his center when Tavares went down. Produces with Holmberg, Mcmann, Pats, declined Tavares, whatever we give him.

Since 2019, Willy is on 1.073 PPG pace in the postseason.

That's not the best part, which is already pretty great. His goal scoring is elite, at 0.537 goals per game.

44 goal pace in the postseason in 82 games. WOWZA. More importantly the eye test is matching the stats. The man is clutch. If we could get him a pass first defensive 2C ? A consistent LW? Just imagine the potential.

This is why you could never honestly include Nylander in the core 4's choking reputation. He seems to really truly know that you have to put up or shut up.

I can't blame him. Nylander is taking over Marner's place on the depth chart, and he's in denial right now, so these backhanded comments are expected.
The biggest game of the year (maybe the biggest game over the last 2 years even), we take a 3-1 lead into the 1st intermission and instead of enjoying the moment, he's taking shots at the guy who just had one of the greatest periods in Maple Leaf playoff history. He gets called out on it, and instead of smartening up he doubles down, you can't make this shit up.

What I would say is that his pathetic comments aren't unexpected, it is maybe a little bit surprising that he would sink as low as he did. I can't think of anyone who posts here who I have less respect for ATM after those comments. He's more a Nylander hater than a Maple Leaf fan, that's just incomprehensible to me.

GLG!!

I think who scores makes a difference. Nylander was so dynamite to start Game 1 vs Florida. But imagine if that was Auston breaking through like that, the roof would have popped off the building.
Just let our quiet no nonsense Spartan Warrior do business.

It's a HUGE game, imagine if we collapse like we did 2 years ago? Now we're favorites to win the Stanley Cup. Worse case scenario of 0-4 from now on is still 10000000000000000 times better than 2 years ago. I remember feeling so deflated after game 3. Like winning a series was irrelevant. It kinda felt like killing a stock, but not dmging hp on the 2nd so it's still a 3 stock in Smash.

It's all in the entertainment on how far someone will go. If Nylander and Marner were in the same draft year, does Nylander go higher than him in a redraft?

He's also gonna age into the 30s the best. Most speed, which means most speed to lose. Don't think his shot is gonna age poorly unlike Matthews and he's got the size. He can also pass with the best of em.

Also, he's got the least injury concerns by far.

I agree, by the Florida series you could tell who was actually scary for the enemy team and who was a fcking dud. Spoiler, it wasn't the first line.
I think we have seen this movie too many times to not finally say its not so much the injuries that keep Matthews from dominating as much as it is a mental problem. Willy seems like he can handle the big stage..the other 2...not so much. AM seems mentally crippled when it comes to playoffs. He missed an empty net from the opponents blue line...even Kampf would have scored that one.

Was that pic from last night? Super cool if it was!

We're not the favorites to win the cup yet, there are still like 5 teams given a better chance that us which I have to say seems a bit weird considering we're the only team that's won a game in the second round.

I've heard so many times that the payouts on the Leafs are never as big as they should be because the odds aren't based on the "true odds" and so on but these playoffs completely destroy that argument as I don't think the Leafs are getting enough respect from the oddsmakers myself.

It's entertaining for a while, at some point it becomes just disgusting. Interesting question about the redraft but I'll leave all that stuff until the playoffs are over. GLG!!

Naw, it was from 2 seasons ago I believe, it was a big meme.

The oddsmakers aren't setting it like that because they're underrating the leafs, they're doing that because the bettors are underrating the leafs. Vegas makes the most money at 50/50 bet spread. If you set it to the true Leafs playoff odds rn. Money puck is much better. No fans would bet on it because of the historical reputation, thus it would be like 80-20 against the Leafs. Even if Vegas thinks the Leafs are better, it would be risk malpractice.

Thus the spread they have right now is close to 50/50 amongst bettors.

I remembered that the pic was a big think back then, didn't remember the exact photo so I thought maybe it was a new one. Oh well, he's still the coolest player we have!

That's interesting but TBH, I wouldn't trust moneypuck over sites that deal in real dollars. I could be wrong but whatever, that's JMHO.

Sometimes Vegas with insider knowledge or something will go for an outright win instead of hedging 50/50, but it's mostly trying to get 50/50 bet spread.

Just wanted to add that although I'm not sure how much faith to put in odds posted by a site that's not backing their odds with real money, it's still super cool to see the Leafs as favorites ATM so thanks for mentioning that!

I hope Stolarz is good to go soon though, concussions scare the crap out of me. GLG!!

I'm actually really happy too, because they were very down on the Leafs this year. Big into advanced stats that site.

Maybe, this is the year the bullshit works in our favor?

Yeah I know, but the bettors are pretty sharp these days, especially with all the info available to everyone so I'm pretty sure that in almost all cases, the posted lines are pretty close to what they should be.
