William Nylander

I was disappointed to see his back check on that short handed goal. If he skates the way he can there it’s not a 2 on 1. He easily breaks that up and it’s still only 1-0 Ottawa.
If you say the graph he actually hasn’t been skating tje whole Playoffs something definitely off marners been clocced at a faster top speed

I can take a look but it would belong in the other thread.

There is a lot of them. There are a lot of Matthews one too.
While you are at it, look for the Nylander flamingos. Seriously this guy has come a long way since he showed up out of shape after sitting out a two months and he is the least unlikable of the 3 clowns.

I don't know how this guy escapes critism all the time
Has 1 goal that's on 5-3. Took a dumb penalty in game 2 or 3 that cost us a goal
Gave the puck away that led to the short handed goal in game 4
Didn't even bother making an effort in 2 on 1 last game when Matthews the pass to Sens

Sure he made that one pass to OEL and points per game. But dude just needs to do more

Other players dont' mail it in because they make one good plays per game., It's a 60 min game, 2 shifts doesn't mean sh** to me
'
and I dont' care what you did last year. This is what have you done for me leauge

Drop that goal chain kiddo. TIme to step up
Go ahead, make me look stupid, make me eat my crow
That first statement shows you're not really paying attention.

Respectfully I'd say he attracts quite a high volume of criticism, at least from a select few..

Personally I'd say Nylander has been having the same level of a series as the rest of the core (well, JT has been a step above the rest at least for a couple games).

They've all been fine for the first half of the series and awful for a couple. And nobody has put the team on their backs yet.

I get more frustrated with Matthews/Marner who are allegedly a tier above, they just never happen to show it when it matters.

I feel the same way about Auston., I have voiced my opinion on that as well.
Well it comes down to these games. Like it always did

Let's find out what version of who we get tonight

The major difference between the failures of Matthews/Marner and that of Nylander is that while Matthews and Marner simply are unable to perform, Nylander fails to exert effort.

It's by far the simplest and easiest form of improvement possible - actually try.

There is absolutely no reason the best skater on the team cannot keep up with Dylan Cozens when he has a head start, and yet he is beaten by 20 feet from blue line to blue line, and on top of that, coasts from his own blue line to the net.

I mean, it's entirely possible that even if he put in 100% effort, Nylander wouldn't have been able to make a difference on his own, and maybe that SHG would still have gone in, but if you don't even try, you don't give yourself the chance to fail due to performance.

I agree about the difference in warts to their respective games. But I actually find the others issues to be far more frustrating (which admittedly is subjective but it is what it is). I can't stand the whole 'well at least they tried' stuff with the others - they're getting massive money ton perform when it matters

Apparently, to you, it's better to not even try, than it is to try and not succeed?

What if you would have succeeded if you had given the effort?

Not even trying is a guarantee of failure, while the person putting in the effort always has the chance to succeed - especially when he/she has the talent to do so.

I think we're exaggerating the effort of the others in this discussion (not to mention the idea that Nylander isn't trying at all). We've also had 7+ years worth elimination games to prove that last paragraph true, and the opposite has happened.
