William Nylander

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Apparently some can. Not sure how they do it, seems like such a likeable guy. If I could could go for a beer with anyone on the team, I can't even think of anyone I'd consider choosing over Willie. That guy was made to play hockey in this town!
Maybe mccabe that guys pissed but definitely agree nobody’s cooler on the team then styles

Congrats Willy on 3 X straight 40 goal seasons.

Quite an accomplishment that not many players achieve.

Willy was always meant to be a Leaf. The lights have never been too bright for him. I am so happy he committed to an 8 year deal with us last year. Very good chance he will be a career Maple Leaf at this point.

He often gets overlooked in the trio that is Mitch/Auston/Willy but in all honesty he is the only one of the 3 that continues to show a high level of consistency game in and game out. Even in the playoffs, when others tend to wilt, he has show a propensity to elevate his game. Not trying to insinuate Mitch and Auston are not consistent, because for the most part they are as well. But they tend to fall victim to the ebbs and flows of an 82 game season far more than Willy has ever shown. Very rarely do you see long stretches of bad play from Willy

Willy is just the ultimate pro. He consistently leads by example. When asked last night what it means to score b2b2b 40 goal seasons, Willy responds with " I am just trying to do what I am paid to do". He then later says "my focus is on the playoffs' and "what matters is playoffs". He is just a guys that clearly gets it. Nobody in this market gives a f*** about personal achievements at this point. Neither does Willy. It's all about that mug.

Hard to believe he was once a guy who's work ethic and passion were ever in question TBH. He is as laser focused on the ultimate goal as anyone we've seen in this era of Maple Leafs

Thank you Willy!!

That's one thing that really makes me like this guy. There have been a number of games in the playoffs where were losing and it looks like everyone else has given up but not Willie. He's still out there skating his butt off creating chances, gotta love that!

Who would have thought Superstar William Nylander would actually come close to being an actual superstar.

Nylander's turned into a pretty damn good hockey player. If it comes to a choice I prefer they lose Marner. The fact Nylander can keep his mouth shut is reason enough to retain him over Marner alone.

I just wish he was a little more physical.

He reminds me a lot of Barbie's boyfriend. They're both blonde haired, blue eyed, and lacking anything below the waist. I find myself very uncomfortable with the fact that watching him play he reminds me a lot like Jake Gardiner.

Another player who appeared to be lacking testosterone producing glands.

It's become a lot easier to overlook Nylander's flaws with his improved performance lately. Forty goals is an impressive accomplishment for anyone. I don't know if that makes him a superstar or not.

Nylander is definitely the Leaf's MVP this year though.

He’s never going to be super physical, but he is always willing to engage in board battles, and he tends to win a lot of them. His strength is underrated.

I never doubted him being a superstar personally he told his rookie coach he wants to dominate the league Hes always been different in a good and bad way we’re seeing the damn neat finished product now it’s not how you start it’s how you finish

He does leave you wanting more on the defensive end which can be frustrating because you know he has the talent to do it.

But at the end of the day, I’m with you. He’s grown into our second best offensive player, but he does it more consistently regardless of if he’s playing with holmberg, jarnkrok, whoever. And he does it all with staying pretty even keel and with no complaints. Easy to root for the guy.

I think Willy's Laissez-faire attitude on a day to day basis was once mistaken by our fanbase as uninspired or unmotivated. I know I was certainly guilty of having that logic. But I think we've all come to realize that the very attitude we once thought was a weakness is arguably Willy's greatest strength. Certainly in this market.

Willy never gets too high or too low. Its why he tends to stand out in a positive way when everyone around him is seemingly stuck in the mud.

I think with all the behind the scenes footage we have had access to over the years, we have come to realize as a fanbase never to question Willy's desire to win. While Mitch and Auston always say how much of an honor it is to be a Leaf and how much they love playing in Toronto, I will never lose sight of the fact that Willy was the only one of the 3 to commit to us for 8 years. Willy wants to be a Leaf, and he wants to win as a Leaf. He doesn't just talk the talk, he backs it up with his actions. Not just with his on ice play, but he has shown a commitment to this team that arguably no one other than Mo can stack up to.

To me that means something. I have a very long leash for Willy as a result
