Probably our best centre already

By the time of the draft Nonis was hanging by the string, I dont think he was allowed to make any decisions affecting the organization's future.
At least if I was in Shanny's shoes I wouldnt let a guy who i am going to let go make such an important decision.
I think Shanahan would have been all over that Nylander pick. Cause he knows the family and played with Michael Nylander.
We should try him on D

And to think that we have Dave Nonis to thank for Willie!
He looks pretty comfortable playing the point on the PP.
pretty sure there was a report that shanahan pushed for nylander and had a long meeting before the draft with the family, because nonis had someone else in mind. I could be wrong but im 99% sure that was the report from tsn.

not like he has much competition.

He since Kadri suspension is our best forward...
Our best player is Rielly and it really is not at all close at this time.
Love his game and if he continues to develop he may be considered our best player but that may not happen as we have Marner and potentially this year's draft pick who may surpass him..

Then again, his absence did help with our tank. If Babcock was a lot more involved in line matching, forward pairings, we'd probably win a lot more games and that's not what we want.
Not yet and if he does get there it won't be for long.
By next year I could certainly see it happening with a full training camp + off season under him, especially because being as young as he is, he probably hasn't filled out.
He's stylistically different than Larkin but truthfully speaking, I think Larkin's game translates to the NHL better in terms of immediate impact because of his 200-foot game. He doesn't have nearly the offensive upside of Nylander however.
I mean...he's a better prospect than Pulju/Dubois/Chychrun etc.
Matthews and Laine have him beat.
why do people think Larkin is good defensively?

Because he is, always have been.
