Now this would only happen if Vegas wanted to go after Marner.

But seeing as Vegas is Vegas and going after Star players is what they do, I fully expect them to go after Marner and if they move Karlsson they could.

What's his value

They only got a 3rd for Smith when dealing him for cap space but given the lack of quality centers available and the desperate demand for them, I would expect them to get a 2nd at least if they decided to trade Karlsson.

That's something I would absolutely do if I was a team with a 2nd rounder, and had cap space, and needed a 3rd line center

A 1st at least. Karlsson has more advantages over Smith beyond just being a center. He's a two-way beast.

Don’t see Karlsson being traded as the number one priority is to extend Eichel this off season and not sign Marner.

Vegas would look at trying to trade Pietrangelo and/or Hague’s RFA rights for a winger in the $4 million or less range instead of Marner. It makes more sense for Vegas based on cap situation and Eichel extension.

any team offering a 1st+ Vegas should just auto accept and laugh all the way to the bank.

What makes you say that?

Nelson, as a rental (who is older and was less effective than Karlsson in these playoffs) went for a 1st, 3rd AND Colorado's top prospect.

arguably they've been relatively similar impact-wise over the past few seasons, perhaps a slight edge to Nelson albeit affected by their respective C roster depth/role.

Weird that you'd expect Vegas to value Karlsson far less than the market values C's with his skill set.

Wait I thought Marner sucked and is a confirmed playoff choker, why does Vegas want him ?

I doubt they actually do. Just don't see how they can make it happen without making the team worse as a whole. I personally just think it's a nice media driven talking point. And then they can also sell Leaf fans the idea they can get a guy like Karlsson out of it.

Rickard Rakell, 1m retained (4mAAV for next three seasons) for a 1st and rights to Hague? I'd do that.

If the Knights go after Marner, they would have to likely trade Karlsson and Hague (since McNabb has a NTC). I can see them going for it because they are an aggressive organization and they have the tax advantages of a Florida team to continually have a competitive team.

Perhaps Karlsson would need to be swapped for another player that needs a change of scenery. Cole Sillinger or a Kirby Dach + 2nd round pick or prospect. Vegas would need to have conviction that they can turn one of those types around to justify the Marner upgrade. Unless they think they can sign a UFA that would take a big discount to win... It could be a risky move since Karlsson is a good 2-way 2nd line center, but they do a good job finding value.

Vegas doesn't have a 1st til 2027 and I wouldn't risk trading that as it could end up being a lottery pick. I'd do Hague and a 2nd.
Yikes on the 1sts. F them picks, right?

I want Hague, and I'm willing to pay a little more than the 2nd round offer sheet compensation for him. I'm not sure 2 2nds is enough for 3 years of Rakell at 4m though.

I mean yeah. I don't give a flying %#$# about late 1sts nor should any team that is serious about winning. Ask Florida right now how much they miss all the futures they've traded. They don't. Realistically though the true window for the Knights is probably closed already unless there is a miracle this offseason. Just too much age/injury related decline. Moving the 27 1st is probably not smart because of that.

I mean you're talking to a Pens fan. Trust me, I get it.

Would you do Rakell @ 4m for Hague's RFA rights, 2 2nds?
