Value of: Willander packaged to move up in draft

Maybe not the tip team but a signed Willander and the 15 the pick is fairly equal in value to more than half of the top 10 picks.

Say you are high in Frondell, is he that much better on his own than say Willander and a Martin, Reschy, Coates ect?

I'd venture to say not maybe Schaefer is the only guy I wouldn't not do that trade for.
Except he's not signed is he

Canucks pick is ranked 15th pre-lottery and that's not likely to change.
With the defense fairly set, and questions at forward, the Canucks might want to move up in the draft and choose a high-impact forward.

Which teams would move down and take the Canucks 15th pick + Willander?
Does Boston pick up the phone assuming their pick stays at 5?
No interest in this at all and definitely doesnt fit what theyre looking to do. No counter offer

Blues offer our first and Joel Hofer. You can package the two 1sts to move up. Probably need to add a little more.

Imo, as a Van fan, they should move Hughes if it’s a big offer from Jersey. I don’t see having all three Hughes boys as an advantage. These are players who are going to eat huge cap and are injury prone. Yes, when healthy, they are great, especially Quinn, but will they survive the season and playoffs?

As a Canucks fan that package would need to be huge and likely not worth it.

Would NJ do that though?
Maybe? Sells a lot of season tickets and huge advertising to have the three brothers. The Devils are competing with the Islanders and Rangers (and all the other entertainment in NYC region) for dollars. It would mean huge revenue for them. Sure it’s not actually going to help them win and actually favours Van. But the league is about money. And this would generate a ton of money for the Devils.

So is Vancouver going to beef up next year or rebuild? They seem to be at a fork in the road
Owner will fire any management who even says the word “rebuild”. Will not hear that word used out here from the club. Van will trade Willander and their first (2025) for help now. Definitely no rebuilding type moves.

Trading Willander AND a first to move up anything less than the top 5 is absolutely NUTS. He's a future top pairing RHD something akin to Slavin. He's also NHL ready right now.......He alone should get you a top 10 pick........
Trading Wallinder and 2925 first for anything other than help now is (as considered by this owner) nuts.

People are asking the wrong question 1st. Is he coming out of uni or is he going to do the full 4 years?
hes ok with playing entire 3 years on the the ELC with the Canucks the latest news. According to Todd Diamond hes ready to sign but we are short 200k, I f in kid you not, quoted by Rick Dhaliwal, so yea, we making headlines for the wrong reason.

If its a trade, I'm asking for the 4th pick or higher. if its just moving to the 5th pick i'm out. 4th or higher and put the Canucks in the position to draft tier 1 prospects from the 2025 draft.

Rebuild? Retool? Push for playoffs next year?
re tool and try to make a push for the playoffs next year.

Canucks can try to go for both, as in, we can Sign Willander and also try to make a push for a playoff next year. Our management team did say the 15th pick is up for trade. as for Willander I think they want to sign him, but the 15th pick is gonna be traded. But for the sake of this topic, if i'm to move up in the draft with Willander than for me, its 4th pick or higher.

If Vancouver is hell bent on getting a center in return for Willander, the Blues are probably out of the discussion. If they would entertain a trade where Kyrou is the main piece coming back, I would at least see if a deal could make sense.

I will add that unlike a vocal part of the Blues fan base, I value Kyrou a lot. He has great chemistry with Holloway. RHD is a need for the Blues short and long term.
