Will you be OK if fans of the winning country at the 4 Nations refer to their country as the "world champs"?

On the one hand, not every country that would otherwise be eligible is present. On the other hand, one could argue that the winning roster is stronger than the 2024 IIHF World Champions from Czechia. Obviously the Olympic title will hold more prestige next year, but for the interim, do you think the winning nation has a legitimate claim to "world champions" of international ice hockey?

I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t be ok, no one would really care.
They won’t be World Champs though they’ll be 4 Nations Champs.

You want to be a World Champions? Then go beat some Latvia's, Swiss, German, Slovak and Czech people like everyone else!
 
The question is there really another country/ team that could beat the champs of this tournament though? Maybe Russia but I highly doubt that.

They will be the best team in the world, yes.
 
To be fair, it wouldn't be much of a stretch.

The winner of this tournament would beat any other team the world can put together. Russia would have a shot but they can't really play in world tournaments these days.

To answer the OP: I'll be traumatized. How dare anyone use the words World Champion? That's so offensive on so many levels to real world champions. I mean...these are words, and words hurt precisely how much I allow them to hurt, and if someone dares to call one of these teams World Champs I will be in a world of pain.

Yeah....you gotta beat all those other countries that can't even ice a team of nhlers.

Only country with any legit chance of beating these 4 teams is Russia, and they can never get their shit together in these tournaments. Only thing that would maybe save them is if one of their stud goalies could channel a Nagano level Hasek performance.

I assume you're hoping the U.S. wins, WT, and then you can call the U.S. World Champions... until April. Go for it. Heck, call them the Masters Of The Hockey Universe if you want.
