Will we see guardian caps in hockey?

No they wouldn't be useful in hockey. They're useful for those minor helmet to helmet collisions in football that can prevent them from adding up into a concussion. Football players lower their heads and hit with the crown a lot.

Most headhits in hockey aren't to the helmet area, they are to the face and jaw.

an explanation of a guardian cap would be helpful in the op

Basically a softshell helmet over the traditional hard helmet. Good for more minor helmet to helmet contact.

The best part is: they look badass.

Would this actually help NHL players?

The NFL I can understand the logic but I'd want to see data anyways. In football a lot of players tackle head first with their helmets. But I can't think of many hockey hits or plays where the player is ramming with their head.

the sport of hockey has an issue with concussions. the NHL is not unique in this. every player in the league right now knows the risks of playing a high-speed contact sport.

Every player knows the risks? Because the commissioner of the NHL has said repeatedly that he hasn't seen any evidence that hockey causes CTE.

Would probably help in stances where head hits the ice after and hit or head it’s the glass/boards. It’s an extra layer to decelerate the head.

While I can agree with that, it also feels like an extra distance for the neck to travel.

I only really mention that because if I remember correctly, during Crosby's concussion era I think I read somewhere that one of the causes of his concussion symptoms was actually an untreated/underdiagnosed neck injury. I ain't no doctor, but that's the info I recall.
