Will there be a Cinderella team this year? if so, who?

...the Metro itself is the key for any Habs/Columbus Cinderella run, imo...Caps are overperforming, imo, and Logan Thompson is banged up...Carolina has issues scoring and the Devils have issues defending...it's an EXTREME longshot either way, but I see it as a more viable option than going through the Atlantic...

...the Sens have to DEFEND WELL if they want to beat Toronto and it's not their strongest suite...CAN they win, yes; however they have to do a better job defending and not just relying on Ullmark to save their bacon...IF they can defend well enough to outscore Toronto, they have to hope Florida/Tampa beat the Holy Hades out of each other and come out of that Series significantly wounded (literally & physically); otherwise, I personally can't see them defeating either Tampa or Florida in a Seven Game Series (unless of course Ullmark goes '21 Price-Mode for an extended period)...

...I'm not on the St. Louis bandwagon; whether it's Vegas or Winnipeg, I don't see how they can beat either, honestly, unless Binnington goes GOD-mode AND Hill/Hellebuyck shyte the bed...as with Habs/Jackets, it's an EXTREME longshot...

...for Calgary, see St. Louis' odds above...chances are EXTREMELY remote, imo, even if Wolf plays spectacularly...

...overall, I think Minny has the best shot for a "Cinderella" run, as long as they are healthy (especially Kaprisov) & Gustavsson plays well...they have the defensive fortitude to grind a game down to a Battle of Attrition and are a better team than their record suggests due to their injury-plagued Season...and they have Hartman, who will make the Series of whatever star he faces on the other side miserable (and possibly over early, as he IS a cheapshot artist)...I don't think it matters if it's through the Pacific or Central; they are a tough matchup for any of the teams they'll face...

The Leafs are not a Cinderella team. If you can't accept than i don't know what to say and yes i expect them to win. Don't you EXPECT them to win?
You answered the question lol, poster is still going on about it.

I remember when there were usually clearly dominant favorites in the playoffs....nowadays, especially these playoffs, there are 16 good teams. All 4 wild card teams are good teams capable of making a run.

The Blues need Holloway back.

Ah yes, makes a huge difference.

Makes the playoffs on last day of season in 2023. Beats the best regular season team of all-time being down 3-1 and advance to finals

While people say Montreal is a year with covid
Cinderella teams are pretty much excluded if they were good the previous season. Just like I wouldn’t call the Kings a Cinderella team this year. Blues are the best example to win a cup.

if calgary or columbus sneak in here i would want to see either of them go on a bit of a run, would be nice to introduce some chaos

The Leafs are the quintessential Cinderella team.

Cinderella is a scullery wench who was first propped up by her father and when he died she couldn't compete with additions of her stepmother and stepsisters. The Leafs were propped up by papa NHL of the original six. When the original six died...the Leafs couldn't compete with the additions of the expansion era.

Cinderella needed her fairy godmother to work her magic to even come close to attending the ball. The Leafs need their Gary godmother to work his magic to keep the Leafs as a middling
playoff team.

When Cinderella gets to the ball she exposes herself as a fraud who isn't royalty and she leaves in her pumpkin coach. When the Leafs get to the playoffs they espose themselves as frauds who aren't contenders, and they leave in their own pumpkin coach ....View attachment 1011752

Who is the Rumpelstiltskin team?

The Leafs again?

The Miller is a braggart who lies about his daughter's ability to spin gold. The daughter agrees to give up her firstborn for money and power. The king is just greedy. Rumpelstiltskin lacks any decent character by taking advantage of a bad situation to demand a child in return.

If there is any NHL team boasting of false accomplishments and lying of achievements, lacking a virtuous backbone, greedy and devoid of character...it's the Leafs.

Ottawa has everything to be an incredible flame in round 1 but maybe burn out too early for a true long run.

Will be rooting for them regardless, should be a fun one.
