Not if they beat the hell out of each other.
This is why coming in first in the central is so important.
Whoever win round 1 will probably play the Jets next then one of Knights/Oilers/Kings in the WCF. That is a tall order.

Fun fact: NHL had correct playoff format in the buble (1-8 with re-seeding after every round). Unfortunately after the bubble, they come back to this atrocity and then the season came when Canadiens shouldn't be in the playoffs but flucked their ticket to the Stanley Cup Finals.

Vegas is also a great, great team. And Edmonton has the potential to be again, they are getting close with Skinner heating up and Walman playing really well. Only question is their goaltending. LA is also great. The West is ridiculous. Even St. Louie can't be overlooked.

I'd take the field all day, both are great teams, but definitely not OP.

So AVS/DAL vs 7 other good teams? Stupid poll

This ”Moral stanley cup Finals” -saying was only working with Pens-Caps second round series 2016-2018

Skinner has been injured for the past week+, it's journeyman Pickard who has heated up. The only benefit of losing McDrai for periods of this past month has been the emergence of some depth guys which should bode well for the playoffs.

Walman has been a terrific addition.

Potentially the most stacked playoff series talent wise.

Currently the 3rd and 6th ranked teams in the league going head to head in the 1st round. Yeah the playoff format really needs to change.

Montreal and St.louis are the weakest teams by far but everyone else in a playoff position are elite teams.

It doesn't bode well for either of them that they have to face each other in round 1. That's going to be a grueling, tiring series for the winner.
