Will Sens sell out their playoff games?

Are you being difficult on purpose?

The post you quoted had 2 links. First one was against the Rangers second one was against the Penguins.

Also I never claimed they had 16500 in attendance. I said they had 1500 shy of a sellout but it was even more than that.
Tbf the first link didn't create the thumbnail the way the second one did, I didn't realize you'd linked the rangers game at all until you replied pointing it out.

Didnt sell about 2,000 tickets for one playoff game. That's nearly a quarter million dollars in revenue lost out on. Understandable why salaries had to be cut back by $10mil after that.

It is more complex than that - because if they would have had to lower the average ticket price to sell those, they might have made less money overall. So it is possible that they priced playoff tickets efficiently to make the largest profit, but the consequence of that was the optics of the building "not being sold out".

I don't want to get into the cost cutting argument, but it's one of those Melnyk and the egg type things. If the argument is that the market was not buying into the team enough when Melnyk ran it, did they not buy in because (as a marketing study concluded) the team's brand was too closely aligned with Melnyk's toxic brand, or did Melnyk have to run a budget (resulting in many of those toxic elements, Alfie leaving, etc) because the fans weren't buying in? While I acknowledge that this market may have challenges that aren't present in other markets, I would guess it is the former (Melnyk driving fans away).

Ultimately, the arena is bigger than the average NHL arena - so judging attendance by the term "sellout" is a fallacy in itself, because attendance for those non-sellouts was likely as high or higher as other playoff teams that sold out.

My suspicion would be that issues selling out likely stemmed from a lower season ticket base. I don't know the exact numbers, so it's a pure guess. But if you look at how they are describing it this year, the SSM base has gone up since they took over from Melnyk and is still not where they want it to be - but that base is also responsible for buying up most of the playoff tickets before the games are even played.

At this point as a STH you can only buy your seats. There might be an opportunity this week to buy more we are waiting. I share my seasons with someone so it was no brainer we bought the entire playoffs as that's the only choice we had. We tried to buy more but we couldn't at this point.

Each round gets more expensive. On average the ticket price was about 100 dollars more per game than they cost in the regular season. For those complaining about the prices. This team has a salary cap of like 135 million Canadian. They have spent money everywhere and delivered a winning product. Save your tears for someone else.

Cant wait to be back in the building for playoff hockey. The atmosphere has been amazing the last 2 months. Hope most of the rest of the games left are sell outs.

Also I won't be selling any of my playoff tickets if the sens play the leafs. I have no issues with regular season. But not the playoffs f that.
Thats odd. We have two season tickets and we were able to add another two seats. We ended up with four total. The kids are really wanting to go. It will be their first time that they can remember

Wish I could like this post 10 times... It's pretty obvious this person is not what they like to represent online in real life. People simply don't talk that way if they are wealthy.

I see with my 6 month absence the same people have dug in... You gotta admire it, they won't go down easy. The pro melnyk gang is hanging on no matter how much everything has obviously improved. It's proven beyond a doubt how terrible he was with how quickly, obviously and easily Andlauer has changed everything about this organization for the better.

Also FYI those prices are based off of playing the full 16 games. Not 12, they have to assume the maximum when selling right now. It's a bout a 40% mark up.
Your right! I do joke and kid around on here. It’s fun to try an alter ego. Life is to short to always be so serious. Sorry it bugs you so much. When I post of hearing or seeing things in our community through my business and all, it’s not bragging. Some of you may think that, but I share what I know. We should meet at a game for a drink, I think you’ll like me hahaha.

I've met @mysens IRL and I can def vouch that he does alright for himself and yes he likes to stir the pot on the internet sometimes but does that make him a bad person? No you can and should delineate the two

To be clear. In my posts I wasn't looking to assassinate your character or imply anything other than you seem to be able to spend money on Senators tickets without too much damage to your budget. I am sure you are a fine person.

I just like to point out that it is easy for someone who can choose to go take 4 people to a game, buy dinner/drinks/whatever and not think how it will affect summer vacation plans/car repairs, etc...to not consider how the majority of people DO have to weigh out the cost of spending all that much for a few hours of entertainment (or frustration as it has been LOL).

This is getting far deeper than I intended, but I am just being empathetic to others. None of us know what other people go through.

Eastern Conference first round is apparently starting April 20th. I'll be in Toronto from the 24th-27th (Which is probably when game 3 and 4 will be in Ottawa)... Otherwise, I'd be there!

They will have games start on Easter Sunday? Interesting. I guess Easter isn't a day off in the NHL like Christmas or Thanksgiving? Why not? What makes Thanksgiving more important than Easter?

Now I'm semi freaking out about the potential of playing on Easter...I'm in my mid 30s with a baby, so I'm supposed to be mature...but how am I going to dodge family plans with her family or my family who also want to see the baby...because I need to stay home and watch the sens first playoff game in nearly a decade with no distractions.

I don't want to record the game and watch it later. I don't want to watch it with 20 people asking me questions or trying to talk to me... Do I host both families and disappear in the basement while both grandmas help my wife with the food? Hahaha

Oh man, this will potentially suckkk.

Don't tell me he has a cottage too? Get my pitchforks ready!

The NFL doesn't dominate the sports landscape on Easter.

I don't really know anyone who likes football over hockey and I know tons who like football.

It might be a "my circle" thing or maybe just a Canadian thing in general.

I think football is quite far back in second place for viewership.

First you drink the beer and then you fight!

Nah lol then you laugh and dance and sing and get along!

I've never understood the people who get all angry when they drink...lol why keep drinking if it clearly isn't fun for you?

I have a friend who often gets in moods when he drinks...like why? Just stay sober and have fun if you're not gonna be a happy drunk lol. Or smoke weed or do mushroom or find something else that gives you a good time, because drinking clearly doesn't do it!

You've clearly never been to a family cottage!

Lmao that's what I was thinking about.

Our cottage is more of the have a big fire on the beach and everyone from a dozen cottages or so comes down...music blasting...maybe drinking games on someone's deck by the edge of the beach. Maybe someone brings a guitar...cuddle up with your woman against a log.

Sometimes we would have a concert or karaoke night with a stage on someone's property facing the beach. So youre in bare feet in the sand with a nice stage and band playing at one end and the bon fire behind you by the water at the other end. It's all fun. Never any fights.

I have memories of my cousins moms birthday parties (she died of cancer) but every year in June, all the 50-60 year old moms would be dancing and singing to 70s music blasting at 2am lol "oh great, our mom's are drunk again" lol "these boots are made for walking"..*all moms kick their leg up in perfect choreography.*

Actually this one time, two 50 year old guests got in a fight lol one guy made a comment flirting with this other man's wife and we heard "keep your hands off my wife" and both men went to bed pretty soon after lol couldn't hold their liquor it seems.

Yeah at the very start if you wanted more you could get them. They have now stopped allowing it unfortunately. I think its due to how much demand and availability they want for the public.
