Cleared by the league. Teams can call him. He can apply.
I think Q will be coaching next season.
Boston comes to mind. Rangers too.

Q turns 67 in September. So, if you are hiring him, it's because your team is close and you feel that they need something different in the coaching to get them over the hump. Bowness was 69 when he stepped down in Winnipeg. S. Bowman coached until the year he was turning 69 in 01/02. Similar birthday to Q.

So, which teams would consider them close enough to warrant the PR of making this move?

Just more proof that the NHL is an old boys nepotism club. There are hockey teams, players and coaches all over the globe but the NHL just keeps hiring these same old white guys over and over again.

Why not bring literally ANYONE else into the NHL? Maybe a SHL coach? or someone coaching really good high school hockey? Maybe a that dude at the laundromat that actually separates his colours and his whites, maybe he can fix your powerplay?

Please stop recycling these same assholes over and over.

Boston ,and Edmonton have never shyed away from controversial acquisitions.

Sounds nice. But would the SHL coach or high school guy be committed enough to cover up sexual assault?

Plus how close is Boston from contending? Is this a retool season and they get back on track in a year? Q has been out of coaching for like 4 seasons.

I think the goal is to take the steps necessary to be contending team but unless we have a remarkable offseason, I highly doubt the Bruins change over night in one season. They want to get a bit younger and faster.

He may be cleared to return but it seems like most teams don't want any part of him, because he would be a PR nightmare to try and sell to your fanbase as well as the unwanted media attention.

If, say, Edmonton flopps in the playoffs again it'll be a way bigger PR nightmare (still no cup for McJesus). So they can pretty much prefer a smaller PR nightmare.

I wouldn’t hire him but he’ll be back for sure. Don’t see why he would take a job like NYR NSH or BOS though. Probably wait until a younger, more talented team is ready to ditch their HC so he can join a turnkey contender
