Apparently more than you do. Kadri is flat out slow. First step, top acceleration. There is nothing about his skating that is nice.

Marner has a dreadful first step. It takes him a bunch of strides to generate any speed and his top speed isn't anything to write about.

Kapanen has game breaking first step, top acceleration and gliding speed.

Now - add on to that both Kadri and Marner like to slow the game down and you have created a situation where Kapanen cannot use his greatest asset to it's fullest potential.

I mean I get it. It's nice to throw names together and not think about it. Thinking is hard.

It's also good for you :)

The perfect LW winger for a Kadri-Marner line has to have these qualities:

Defensive responsibility (Both Kadri and Marner are average to below defensively)
Good/Great shot generation
Good/Great Vision/Playmaking
Ability to play off boards

Kadri is a shooter. Marner is a passer. The complimentary winger needs to be a bit of both. Kadri can drive the net, so he needs to be able to hold the line along the boards and win battles. Marner is known for making extremely risky plays, so he has to have the defensive acumen to adjust to that.

Marleau is the best we have and he's not ideal (he's a shooter).

Kapanen is the best winger for a Nylander centered line.

Lol. Marner has a great first step , and his top speed is exceptional.

You calling him a slug and were wrong has nothing to do with the rest of your post.

I called you out on posting that Marner is a slug. Focus on that.

You are very wrong. His first step is bad, which is why it takes him so many pushes to generate any kind of speed.

However, not in your nature to be critical of a Leaf.

Ergo, it is pointless to continue this conversation with you.

For sure, size is definitely a good thing in the playoffs, but not if it's a lunk with no skill. Any good team needs a mixture of size and skill, Mitch fills one of those needs.

Actually, Marleau is the perfect winger for the Kadri - Marner combo.

He goes up and down the wing, goes to the net, has a good shot, and just does everything well.

How long did Teemu Selanne play in the league? Marleau seems to be the same career path.

The kind of winger you do not want for the Kadri - Marner combo is the type who floats around, looking for a pass. Just drive towards the net. That itself creates space.

If the coach needs Marleau to play on another line, then it is Uncle Leo time again!

Man, some of the comments make me feel like I live in some kind of alternate reality. Marner is a slug. Because he is not as speedy as Kasperi Kapanen. Poor Mitchy, when will he ever become a good player? :(( /sarcasm

Komarov probably makes every pass Kadri makes look like a bad pass...haven't you seen those recent bad passes from Kapanen to Komarov that can't even be converted to goals into wide open nets?

Probably when he can get up to 205, grow a beard, and start trucking guys on the ice. Until then he's a slug...?
