I'm pretty confident JT stays, though I've been wrong before.

Marner is a tough one. High chance he starts the season on fire and gets a ludicrous extension (as per the Willy formula from last season). Also a good chance we lose him for nothing after yet another disappointing post season.

When has our franchise ever shown the balls to make any kind of move like that nevermind in season?
It has happened (Mahovlich, McDonald, Sittler) but those teams were in decline. All bad trades, too.

The issues with trading Marner are getting an acceptable offer, Marner agreeing to waive, and Marner agreeing to a deal with his new team. Odds of all that happening are extremely low.

I see Marner re-signing here. JT could go either way.

I suspect JT will likely extend on a lower aav deal with player friendly term.

Marner is probably more likely to stay than leave. The bigger issue is how accommodating he/his agent will be on aav. Zero chance of a mid season trade one way or the other

I would think they’ll both be back. Management for better or worse seems very fond of the core.
I mean you guys are buying tickets and going to the games
Business seems pretty good
Lets keep the beleaf alive
Lets run it back again

Both staying.
JT will sign a team friendly retirement package deal.
Marner will get an 8 year extension with AAV north of $12M.

I think they will. The toughest decision this management group makes is who to offer a PTO to and who wins the job for 13th F and 7th D.

Far too early to say. It really depends on how the team performs this year, particularly in the playoffs. If we have the same result as the past, with the same type of play from these guys, there will be changes. If we progress though at least two rounds, they’ll be back.

Nylander didn’t sign a team friendly retirement deal, so I doubt Tavares or Marner do either.

JTs deal should be team friendly, or at least reasonable. Its not like he is in his prime like the other two.

I don't want either one on this team next season, but with our Leadership, both will not only be back, they will also receive overvalued contracts.

You would hope they'll be gone by now.

JT will stay @5M per.

Marner will stay, because he is 7M player on the open market. Not that he could leave to get 7-9M and lose half of the endorsement deals he got in Toronto.

If Treliving was willing to give Willie virtually everything he could possibly want it's hard to imagine Marner will be offered much less. He's an elite offensive talent, kills penalties, good for the community, etc. He's a poster child of what MLSE loves in its athletes, minus the occasional smug remark to the press.

So Mitch walks only if he wants to.

JT is pretty much the same, minus the elite talent. But if he puts up a solid year, he'll get a sweet offer as well.

Or the simple version: Have we seen a single indication from MLSE that their path forward is any different than what we've seen so far? The only small argument is stripping the C off Tavares. Otherwise, they're 100% all-in on their stars and the belief that if you keep them happy enough (or I'd suggest, coddle them enough) they'll eventually justify the faith.

Even simpler version: Yes, they're both coming back.
