Will anyone not named Ovechkin score 50+ in the next 3 years?

Kane, Benn, Tarasenko, or Panarin.

Ov is just a notch better then everybody scoring goals.

Is it safe to compare him to the Golden Jet yet?

No question about it. You can compare Ovi to absolutely anyone i think. Doesn't necessarily mean Ovi is ahead just yet, but he's definitely in contention.

I still say Ovi's "peak" at scoring goals isn't as good as Lemieux, nor Gretzky, who imo are easily top 2. But it doesn't have to be if his consistency throughout a long career remains so strong. He could very well be called the greatest goal scorer of all time by the time he retires.

I think Galchenyuk has a shot. He really perfected his 1-timer at the top of the right face off circle, he's bringing it to Stamkos-Ovechkin like levels. He got 30 last year but only really started dialing in that 1-timer on the PP in the 2nd half. He'll get close to 20 PPG this year.

Lol come on man

That's not true. IIRC OV had hit 30 before the New Year that season. He started off absolutely on fire. And I believe it was by mid-November that he passed Steen for the league lead in goals and never looked back.

Correct, my bad.

Anyone that is really a perennial 40g scorer has a realistic chance to hit 50. It would be an aberration I would think...but with a slightly inflated shooting percentage and a bit of extra luck it could happen to anyone.

The only perennial 40 goal scorer not named Ovechkin is Stamkos, and he's declining already.

I hope so, Tarasenko is my bet.

Very "funny". He had 14 goals in 17 games to begin the 2013-2014 season until he broke his leg.
And he had 21 goals in 21 games one year before going in a major cold streak, he's a known fast starter.

20 PPG with Radulov is possible, but to call for a 50 goal season from a player with 63 career goals...

Laine has an outside shot in a year or two depending on how the lines shake out. Him playing with Scheifle and Wheeler and on a pp unit similar to washingtons with Buff as the other right shot could work wonders.

If you actually do a minor dissection of Stamkos annual stats, you could consider last season his only "down year". He could absolutely hit 50 again.

I am going to reserve judgment that someone who hasn't yet played an NHL game is going to be one of the top 2 goal scorers in the league in a couple of seasons.

Stamkos and Tarasenko has a good shot at it. Laine might in due time, but probably not in the next 3 years.

Seguin Tarasenko Kane are who I would bet on to score 50 in the next 3 years.

Off the board pick Ehlers does it.

On the board pick Seguin does it.

He had 21 ES goals last season. If he can improve that with more ice time and full season on 1st line, plus getting his PPG close to 20, then it is not a big leap for him to be at the 40 range.

Obviously the next jump to 50 would quite a thing, that would require it all to come together, but I am just saying he has the potential cuz his one-timer is ++ quality now, deadly quick and accurate, potential to really feast on the PP from the top of the circle for 20+ goals like Ovechkin and Stamkos did on a bunch of their 50+ campaigns.
