AHL: Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins 24 25 the Players Sully Hates

Im hoping its Broz, have an all kids line and put Rakell back with Sid.

I could also see Broz, they've had to push Katchouk to LW with the Koivunen and McGroarty recalls and I think they prefer him at center.

Would be pretty damning for Ponomarev's future here if Broz is getting the call-up over him, though.

Would be pretty poor asset management too.

I mean they should be calling up who they think has performed better, Ponomarev getting outperformed by Broz is more of an indictment against Ponomarev than anything.

If Broz has earned it over Ponomarev, Ponomarev shouldn't just get it based on waiver eligibility.

Pono makes the most sense for sure. I think im just suffering from new toy syndrome and Broz has spent alot of time centering Koiv this year.

As long as its not Nieto bringing his talents back to the NHL.

If they're recalling someone, it's Ponomarev or Poulin.

Poulin just had a six-game point streak and had 6 goals and 9 assists in 11 March games. He's playing in all situations, too. I think he and McGroarty were usually the first two over the boards on the PK.

Ponomarev has been quiet lately, but he could play center and they could shift other guys around. If Malkin is going to be out a little bit more, they could shift Hayes to center on L2 with Rakell and Koivunen on the wings and have Ponomarev center L3.

I doubt it's Broz. He's really cooled off. He has just five goals in the 24 games since he came back from mono. He needs more time.

I guess they could always bring back Puustinen or Koppanen, but I'd think they'd want to take a look at guys who may actually have NHL futures. They could also bring back Nieto, I suppose.

Yeah the recent performance definitely makes me think it should be Poulin. Ponomarev also hasn't been that hot recently, he did have 3 points in his last 3 games but he went on a 6 game pointless streak before that. Since 2-23, he's gone pointless in 11 of 16 games.

I'm actually growing more concerned about Ponomarev. His AHL numbers don't appear to have progressed, he's not finishing out the year strong and he hasn't looked good in the NHL so far. Him getting waiver eligibility next year may cause him some issues.

Meh he looked fine in the nhl in with usage he got. He played with like Nieto and other bottom 6 trash.

His upside was TB 2.0 which is what he is tracking towards.

Mono completely wrecked one of the best athletes at my HS. Was crazy. Dude missed half the year of school, whole season. Had to redo a grade and just wasn’t the same athletically after. Hope Broz is good long term.

I was shocked how quickly he got back on the ice TBH. Had it in college, lost 30 lbs I didnt (at the time) have to lose, but most impactfully couldn't work out for a couple months because I had an enlarged spleen. Not exactly what you want in a contact sport.

Koppanen is back, but on an emergency basis. Which would mean the Penguins don't have 12 healthy forwards, or are concerned they won't have 12.

I'm beginning to think the Bemstrom move might be procedural and that Koppanen might be in limbo for a while much like Nieto and Aho were for a week or two.

I’m excited for when Hayes gets called up. He kind of sounds like what we would want Howe to turn into.

Maybe. Conor Sheary was more dynamic in the A.

I feel like Avery is just having one of those seasons and it's cool, but not much impresses me about his game.

Hayes is having pretty much identical numbers as sheary's 22 year old year. Sheary may have been a little more offensively dynamic but Hayes is a better two-way player.
