(In reality, I'm expecting it to come out that Larsson or Blomqvist is hurt).

Does the NHL to AHL rules about the roster at the TDL being playoff eligible the same for ECHL to AHL? If so, thats probably what this is, just in case of a goalie move.Yes, it's happening! The WB/S Penguins are making their moves to contend for the Calder Cup!

I don't know, but if that's all it was, they wouldn't need to make that move today. They could have done it on Friday (or whenever the AHL's roster deadline is; it isn't always on the same day as the NHL trade deadline, as I recall).Does the NHL to AHL rules about the roster at the TDL being playoff eligible the same for ECHL to AHL? At least the last 2 years the AHL playoff roster deadline was the same date and time as the NHL trade deadline. No luck finding anything concrete if that's always the case. The Murashov move accomplishes two things --
Wheeling doesn't play until Friday night. If the Penguins make a move that includes a goaltender at the NHL or AHL level, they have flexibility now. WBS can carry three goalies for a week just fine.
I believe players have to be on the AHL roster at the NHL trade deadline to be eligible for the AHL playoffs. So, you may see Bemstrom get sent back down as a paper transaction, too.
It makes the most sense to have it synced up so that both leagues stabilize any potential player movement at the same time.At least the last 2 years the AHL playoff roster deadline was the same date and time as the NHL trade deadline. No luck finding anything concrete if that's always the case.
