I’d really hope that Jarry is the defacto backup in WBS no matter who the other goalie is as it’s better for the organization long term to develop the younger guys.

If the plan is to buy him out this summer (which I can’t imagine it is anything else) they could have just told him to go home to the farm and collect his check the rest of the year.

Yeah well you and I both know that's too quick and easy.

I feel like this is going to be some asinine drawn-out process.

I am just speculating, but there may be some language in NHL contracts through the players' association that players in good standing with their club can't just be told to stay away from the rink.

It's one thing if they have violated terms of their contract and they are being disciplined. It's another to just be bad, though. You don't have to play the player in games, but I wonder if they're required to have access to the facilities and practices so long as they haven't violated their contracts.

Read St. Ivany is healthy again. Will he be called up or play for WBS?
WBS for now. He's been out for a while. He needs games.

That could be the case. I can’t think of any examples right now, but for some reason I seem to remember it happening before where a player just went home and got paid and awaited a buyout. Maybe it has to be a mutual agreement.

[I didn't see anything in Article 13 that states they can't just not play while sent to the AHL]

Regardless, Jarry can get to stay in a Marriott for 28 days.

The AHL is a developmental league, but it is still a results driven business for coaches. I can imagine a coach wanting to play a guy who has years of NHL under his belt given the opportunity.

It would be nice if we could just eliminate that temptation.

Plus their schedules are usually kinda hectic for goalies. Sometimes 3 games in 3 days on weekends. Here's hoping Murashov gets 2 out of 3 of them.

Yeah, including this weekend. They're in Utica on Friday and then play Utica in WBS on Saturday and play Lehigh Valley in WBS on Sunday.

In fact, WBS has six games in nine days coming up.

I don't want Jarry taking away ice time from Murashov but Larsson being hurt alleviates that concern a good bit. I still figure Jarry will start most games, because despite being a shitty NHL goalie he's likely a great AHL goalie and WBS is trying to win. That said, a 50/50 split with Murashov and Jarry would be totally good with me.

I don't feel bad for Jarry in the least, but it has to be a culture shock to him to go from a seasoned NHLer making $5 million a year to an AHLer riding buses and staying in La Quinta Inns for road trips. I was going to say "at least he doesn't have to spend a month in Wheeling, WV" but I don't know that Wilkes Barre is any better
