Get Spurgeon healthy and put him on the 2nd pairing with Seeler (rather than having Dumba carry the 2nd pairing), and then try to win one of those first 2 games!

Playoffs baby! Can't wait to see who we match up against. Winnipeg isn't the greatest matchup for us considering the forwards for them versus the defense of us but overall it doesn't feel like a series we can't win. Get a few lucky bounces in Peg and try to steal a game or two at home who knows we might play loose enough to win this thing since all the pressure should be off of us. p.s. Spurgeon feel free to heal up whenever little buddy.

Yup. Suddenly..

Brodin - Dumba
Seeler - Spurgeon
Soucy - Prosser

...doesn't sound as bad. At least as it felt yesterday.

Although.. it's early, Spurgeon not yet healthy, Olofsson's situation?, not familiar with the rules and regulations, who they must or can send down..? all the emergency call up stuff and that.

I've been very positive about Olofsson and his future, but Seeler's play has been more consistent and useful than Olofsson's ever has. If he doesn't get his act together he will be living the life of Reilly.

Jets fan here.
You may not know that a lot of us fear the match up with the Wild more than the other possible first round match ups. The consensus is that your playoff experience may be the difference. As well as a pretty talented, balanced team.
Sucks that Suter is out though, but I think you have the depth to overcome this.

Always rooted for teams from Minnesota. North Stars, Vikings, etc...
Looking forward to our first PO series with you guys. Hopefully builds a good rivalry going forward.

I hope it's a good natured series with the Jets fans. I've always felt that the whole "INTENSE RIVALRY!!!" thing is overrated and romanticized. I would rather have a fun and light hearted rivalry, hating someone takes too much energy.

My blood pressure tripled during the Avs series. :D I agree.

So yeah

I keep seeing references to suddenly arrogant Jets fans, but I feel like I've completely missed it. Is this all just main board talk I've missed?
Main board, on reddit, and the fans that come to MN have been unusually snobby the last 2 seasons. Usually my favorite games to go to when the Jets are in town but the guys that have been sitting in my section have been just awful people lately.

That makes more sense. Whatever one might say about HF it at least tends to be less pants-on-head obnoxious than reddit/twitter/facebook/etc.

I hope so too. But unfortunately, there's an idiot in every fan base. The vast majority are not.
I liked the idea of having a series against the Wild because there will be a lot of Winnipeg fans that will travel to the twin cities for this. It's a great Mini trip (pardon the pun)

I have quite favourable view of the Jets team and their fans. Sure, there are always a few bad apples giving the rest a bad name, but which team doesn't? All in all, if the Wild are not going to win the Stanley Cup then I hope Jets do.

I think part of it is that when teams are bad or mediocre for a long time and then have a strong season and make the playoffs for the first time in a while, their fans often don't realize that regular season success and playoff success are two different things. For all we know, Winnipeg or Toronto are just as likely to be on the cusp of several years of post season disappointments as they are to win the cup any time soon. Look at Washington or Vancouver - all those President's Trophies and nothing to show for it. That could be in their future but they won't know it until it happens.

The one thing that gives me hope is that the Jets have all the expectations and very little playoff experience. The Wild have the freedom to be the scrappy underdogs plus they have tons of playoff experience. Thay may be able to ambush the Jets early while they are still getting used to what playoff hockey is all about. Plus Dubnyk is going into the playoffs near the top of his game which hasn't been the case in the past.

I think people are making the Jets out to be better than they really are. They are a good team but the Wild are a good team too. Suter's injury is the main difference maker. It isn't like we are facing the Blackhawks in their prime (and we have already played that team in the playoffs). If Suter was healthy I think it would be a 50/50 series.

The Wild defense has become not very playoff experienced either.

The Wild will playing with house money.

The other thing is that we don't know if Paul Maurice knows how to coach in a seven game series. It is a small sample size but history suggests the answer may be no.

Why wouldn't there be an intense rivalry? We're neighbors with a lot in common. We both lost a franchise to some rather messed up rich-guy machinations. The Jets had to rebuild from a flawed base. The Wild had to build from scratch.

The Jets used good drafting and development (Connor, Ehlers, Scheifele, Morrissey, Hellebuyck, Lowry, Copp) and a bit of luck (Laine) to create a good team. The Wild relied on the same - minus the lottery pick - with a bit more free agency (Staal, Suter, Parise, Spurgeon) and trading (Nino, Coyle, Dubnyk).

The prior Jets were a fun team with some real stars (Hull, Hawerchuk, Selanne) but ran into this problem: (can't recommend this enough if you have time)

The prior North Stars had guys like Bellows, Broten, Ciccarelli and Modano but ran into this problem:

And yet the Yotes and the Stars will be watching from home while these clubs play on for glory. For me, the easiest aspect of Bettman's folly to boo as long as he's around. Two regions that deserved more than the disrespect of losing their teams.

Maybe the Wild end up with Vegas, but Jets/Wild would be a great matchup for two franchises that have done things the right way for a few years now. Hoping for a classic.

Outside of the Av's (the Wild match-up horribly against them) the Jets are the team I'd least like to play in the West.

If we have to play the Jets I guess the 1st round is the best time to do it. Maybe the Playoff experience and underdog mindset will be enough to get past the Jets inexperience and Playoff pressure. A Jets team that knows they belong and can win in the Playoffs is a scary thought.

All that said I don't have very high expectations for this year's team. The 3rd line and depleted d-corps will end up costing the Wild.

Jets fan here, love your city, love visiting there. I feel like you guys are our American equivalents in some regard, nice people. Happy we finally get to meet in the playoffs. I can see a friendly rivalry form here.

After a few cocktails..... **** the Jets. Let's get this thing started. It's all Jets fans here, blah blah blah, here to lube you up so we can stick itin ya. I'd rather have it with no lube thank you. We know Coyle and Granny are bringing playoff hockey A game, because they always do. Let's hope the rest don't disappear this year. I love the Jets. They have my favorite player. 33. But only until tonight. Now I hate. I'll drop the gloves. Wanna go? Lol. Playoff hockey rocks, everything else sucks.

Should be nice little warm up for the Jets, a series that will propel them to Stanley Cup run. It would be a shame for Wild to try to steal the show from the Jets.

I am hoping for fun filled hockey competition with no injuries
