He is going to be healthy scratched for his second game in a row tonight and he has not been very good the second half of the season. It makes no sense that they would extend him for two more years.

Goligoski is awful- slow and weak. His point totals are very misleading. Guerin is stupid, if this is indeed true.

He's +34 and has 28 points. Seems fair?
Thought he was good just by looking at this aswell.

People calling 2mil AAV being too much are gonna get very surprised by say... a Ristolainen deal.

At one year, this is fine, not a big fan of the second year but he can be moved pretty easily with the numbers he is putting up. Gets a lot of flak for being the worst defender in the top 6 but his offense and transition game is still fine. Seems fine to me if he accepts a more depth role over the next two seasons.

Not the value. He'd probably get more as a UFA.

Fit is strange given they just traded for Middleton to replace him and our third pair from this year is already under contract

Has Goligoski really been that bad? Decent production and his underlying numbers aren't awful.

The Wild will need someone cheap to play in the top-four, considering the cap situation.

Underrated smart move by the wild here given their cap situation in the coming seasons.

Sign him for 1 year at big money while they could afford it then they’re now giving him an extension at a lesser cap hit.

They turned a 3 year 9 million dollar deal into 2 separate deals where cap is higher in the short term but save them cap when they need it.

But if more teams do this to try to circumvent the cap, it could be a problem in the future.

HF Wild absolutely requires a scapegoat to exist, and with Rask and Benn banished its slim pickings to find actual bad players. Goligoski is old and doesn’t play at nearly the same pace or physicality as the rest of the team so his mistakes are always under a microscope.
