Claimed off Waivers: Wild claim Nate Prosser

2 Minute Minor

Its the 2nd time Minnesota has claimed him after the Blues put him on waivers. Hopefully he didn't move all his stuff down. He played in one game for St Louis, but the emergence of Dunn and the return of Bouwmeester pushed Prosser to 8th (at best).

But makes it harder to trade Gunnarsson now. Almost 3 million in cap space riding the press box right now. Not great DA...not great.

Makes me wonder why they didn't re-sign him last summer...

What tends to happen is Prosser hits UFA hoping he can get a deal around 1 million, which the Wild don't want him at that price.

The Wild move on and when he can't, he eventually signs a deal near league minimum with the blues. A price the Wild would have signed him at previously.

When the Blues waive him, the Wild claim him cause he's a fine 7 that's right handed and knows the system.

Last time it worked out perfectly, this time the Wild thought it was smart to actually spend 1.25 million on a worse defender in Quincey.

Almost as if he doesn't want to be in Minnesota...

Twice he's failed to come to an agreement with them, only to be claimed without his say off waivers by them.

Prosser loves Minnesota, is from here and lives here. When he hits UFA, he just has to try maximize his value the best he can. If he would have taken 650k July 1st or before, Fletcher surely would have signed him.

But he wanted to try for a better deal, and settled for his actual worth in August with a different team. By then, the Wild's roster was full.

Almost comical
Not almost comical. Ridiculous comical to the point of not even being funny.

Wild, for virtually no reason, refused to re-sign their perfectly affordable and adequate depth RHD in Folin and Prosser, and instead threw 1.25 million at another LHD who is now waived because he is garbage in Quincey. And they have been scratching their heads for the first 30% of the season why their bottom pairing is trash, when at least Folin and Prosser could give you 10 minutes of passable defense, and could both step up when there was an injury or sit in the press box for long stretches without effecting their game too much.

The only workout he got with us was all the walking he did from the bus to the elevator to the Press Box and squats from getting up to get refills in said Box:sarcasm:

Oh boy...if Nate Prosser is the answer to your defensive problems then you know you are in deep shit.

Fletcher DID not have a good off season. Losing the oft maligned Scandella To BUF(who is now an undisputed top pairing D for them) and Folin ( a decent #6 RHD) thinking that Dumba would play solid defense was a fool's play.

Now he has to figure out how to get rid of Ennis and Foligno.
