I just liked Koivu because in a time when the Canes were very bad and (IMO) the captain’s play was a big reason for that, Mikko was the opposite of Staal in almost every way. Even though Minnesota wasn’t the best team either, Koivu was solid defensively, could put up points, and most importantly, rarely took a shift off. So whenever I couldn’t stand another 5-1 lossTM from the Canes, I’d watch Minnesota.
