I'd love to get Pacioretty, but it depends on what we have to add.

First ever proposal, but wondering...
Pacioretty for Coyle, with a reasonable + from Minnesota...
Salaries are somewhat close, but Coyle would fit in well with Habs... I know Max is captain, but I don't think that lasts past this season... we all know Price is the real C, and I'd rather see Weber wear it than max... also, good for Pacioretty in that he has typically performed best as a supporting member to strong rosters... I think a good fit in minny... pominville and niederreiter are good top 6 rw, and Granlund looks better at c than lw...

Thoughts?

this is ridiculous.

if Price is the real captain as you claim, then why does it matter if Weber wears the C instead of Pacioretty ? just leave the letters where they are and stop falling for the idiotic media conspiracies.....they lost their usual targets in Subban and Eller and have simply moved onto the next one and you are mindlessly following them......you even admitted in your OP that the letter doesn't matter because it's Price's team.....so why trade Pacioretty?

Besides, the Wild won't want to give up the pieces to get him and they are already set on LW....

MTL fans are tripping over themselves to get rid of Pacioretty. Get mad at them, not me.

It won't be worth it with the significant plus added onto Coyle. That's what people are saying, along with other reasons. The trade isn't Coyle for Patches straight up.

Team need aside, there isn't an argument you can make that justify this trade for the Habs, or to say Coyle > Patches.

This trade is laughable for the habs, doesn't make Coyle a bad player, just not as good as Patches.

Minnesota's top-6 is already over-the-hill... Koivu (33), Pominville (33), Parise (32), Staal (31).

I'd love to add Pacioretty (27), but at the expense of Coyle+ (likely another young player)? I don't think that decision bodes well for the Wild's ability to compete in 3-5 years.

1. MaxPac had THE best contract in the league. The contract for 35goal scorer should be 7mil AAV. Maxpac has 4.5mil contract for 3 seasons.

The contract AAV discount is worth probably at least a high 1st.

2. MaxPac is worth a 35g scorer, which is allstar player on 3 year contract.

So:

You proposal should be at least Parise/Suter (with a takeback after 3 years) plus 1st.

In other words, Wild doesn't have enough chips to trade him unless you want a massive pack medium quality prospects.

21/21 is borderline 2nd/3rd line.

Last year was tied for 24th among RW's for goals and I believe top 30 for points.

Max Pacioretty is one of the best LW in the whole nhl.

Coyle's best season is borderline 3rd/2nd line production. I understand you like him and all but valuing a trade on a projected (exagerated if you ask me) production is just silly.

Right now, if you want Pacioretty for Coyle, you will need to add a great asset.

And that is exactly what I said in my first sentence.

My posts:
I don't see the reason for Montreal to do this. All you listed were weak reasons for why you don't think Patches should be captain. Not a good reason to trade one of your better players.

well that's fitting since that was bouncing all over the lineup playing different wings and C on different lines. He's got a lot of versatility. A lot of people here don't really know what kind of numbers correlate with depth chart position, as evidenced by you. And to be fair, every time a "first line center" proposal comes up. Inevitably it seems like there are only 15 first line centers in the league and about 60 top six forwards.

Don't want to make a reasonable add to coyle so I'd pass. Would be a nice player to get though

add Nino and we would have a solid fondation to start the talks

no need for nino esp when massively downgrading from pacs to coyle (lol). Also why the hell would the habs kill off the chemistry pacs and Galchenyuk have or pacs and pleks have just to add coyle. Nino would play third line minutes.

of course the Wild would have to add a lot. That's why we won't do it. I'm guessing it'd be some combo of high pick and another young player. So no. As other's have pointed out our prospect pool is a bit thin in the talent department right now, and Patches would make us older.
