Does anyone actually have credible explanation as to why beaulieu was sent down, and kept down?

I can understand sending him down during the Olympics, and his play at the nhl level certainly did not warrant a sending down.

Please don't feed me rumours... I'd rather focus on what we actually know, if anything.

They don't want to rotate 2 rookies in and out of the lineup when one of them could be getting minutes in Hamilton.

There's no doubt in my mind that Beaulieu was going to be sent down and Tinordi recalled, no matter how they played.

He simply isn't ready yet and Tinordi looks much better than Beaulieu at this point. What is ridiculous is that anyone needs an explanation for this.

I watched him play live for the Habs before the Olympic break and he wasn't very impressive. His d-zone reads were slow and he was easily muscled off of the puck.

He is atleast a full year away from becoming a FT NHLer imo.

And that was the reason. He was sent down on the 9th February because Montreal had no games for two and a half weeks. He hasn't moved since. Do you actually mean the reason why he hasn't been recalled? In which case it's been well documented that he just hasn't been playing very well. No mystery.

Beaulieu was sent down because of the olympics. Then he played badly once sent down while Tinordi was playing great. They decided to call up Tinordi instead?

Any other rumors of bad attitude would only have compounded the above issue.

It was discussed on TSN 690 last week on Melnick's show. The consensus, based on the folks on there, who have to be somewhat in the know, was that he sulked and/or made a negative comment when he was sent down to Hamilton. The plan had been to call him back up, but the Habs left him in Hamilton to teach him a lesson. I would hope they move past that soon.

Maybe give Pateryn a shot then for a couple of games before calling up Beaulieu, but Tinordi should go back for a while and regain his poise.

Management sent beaulieu down for the Olympics and felt during the break that tinordi outplayed him, which he did. That's why tinordi was called up, beailieu is still in Hamilton because we have a glutton of serviceable defenceman, also at this point it would be risky to call him back up because we only have 3 call ups after the trade deadline.

I believe that the two youngsters each make the team next season. Nathan is the best prospect we have by quite a lot. He does need to mature a bit more. Still, the talent is unquestionable!

They should both be up and playing before 2 of Bouillon/Murray/Weaver.

Murray is useful, and there is a lot less pushing guys around in our zone and in the crease when he is in the lineup.

Weaver looks like a decent 6th/7th, and Bouillon is ok for short bursts until he wears down. Right now he is playing ok because he was rested for weeks. Rest him in back to backs and put him back in the pressbox if he wears out again like he did earlier in the season.

Beaulieu's upside is much higher than 'serviceable'. The risk, IMO, would be waiting until the playoffs to reintroduce him to the NHL. Better to work on his on-ice issues now, during the last few weeks of the season. Give him another few weeks of NHL experience so that he's better prepared to contribute during the playoffs. Risky? Sure, but no more of a risk than allowing our older, slower vets to be caught flatfooted and stuck in our zone. I'll take a rookie's learning curve over a veteran's diminishing skills. Beaulieu showed flashes of being exactly what we need -- a strong, confident puck-moving D. His downside is inexperience. Give him experience.

Yeah, I'm assuming Montreal is planning to give Beaulieu a shot in the playoffs. I've heard all about his supposed off-ice issues -- his attitude and sulking when sent down -- but now that he's been put in his place, shouldn't the Habs give him some encouragement by using his talent? You teach kids with equal parts carrot and stick. Time for some carrot.

He should be playing...MT's love for the Cube, is not good for the team...:shakehead

Tinordi made a mistkae that cost a goal = Benched
Bouillon, a vet, made an even suckier turnover that cost a goal...

Will Therrien will play fair, or will he play favorite?

Beaulieu has been more effective than Tinordi and it wasn't particularly close. What is ridiculous is that anyone needs an explanation for this.

Regardless, both should be in the lineup over our sub-3rd pairing duo.

I don't think it's a suckier turnover, but it's definitely a sucky turnover. Don't think Bouillon gets benched though. Therrien's bias is too strong for that.

Habs are a better team with the #5 and #6 being Murray and Beaulieu

Beaulieu was the only defenseman who could make Murray look like a serviceable defenseman.

I love Tinordi, but Beaulieu did look better. And when a team has Gorges, Murray, Weaver, Emelin, Bouillon who offer absolutely no offense, you'd think they'd go with the OFD who also has some size and grit.

Because this team is terrible at managing young players. Bergevin might be great at hiring his friends for symbolic positions to show player development is the priority, but pep talks from Breezer aren't going to make up for having Therrien as the coach who punishes any young player who dares not try and be a grinder.
