Just in regards to Brock Nelson. Apparently he’s going to sign with the Wild in the offseason. No source, but a badly kept secret in a few spots on the internet.

So don’t get your hopes up.

Good.

He'll be 34 to start next season. Can we maybe try and sign someone who isn't on the back 9 of their career and entering their mid 30s?

He would be the best free agent fit for this team IMO. Big defensively responsible center whos old enough you dont have to give term.

On a 2 year deal, maybe. But he's a big guy at 6-4 and bigger guys tend to decline fast and hard.

I'd rather give more term if that's what it takes to get someone like Boeser or Ehlers. At least they'd be 28 and 29 to start next season.

Don't be shocked if players like that extract out more years than anyone would like. Chris Tanev got 6 years because the Leafs were desperate for a solid RHD at a good cap hit. Teams will deal with any future pain later if they think they're a guy away from a Cup next year. I'm sure Nashville would have loved to give an obviously declining 34 year old Stamkos a 2-year deal, but he still finagled 4 years at at a high number.

I could see Misa doing a year at Michigan if he isn't actively prevented in some ways by the OHL or the CHL-NHL Transfer Agreement. He almost did a Tender with the Steel/Commit to Michigan like Power and Fantilli before he got Exceptional Status into the OHL. Jump on after the college year ends and get some games at the end of 2025-26.
He’s been linked to BU. We’ll see if it actually happens

No, actually.
Moore, Greene or Boisvert aren't enough already? That's without thinking about the less talked about guys we have and don't expect to make it.

One will make it there. I'd rather get another 18 year old to keep them flowing in a bit later.
You can always sign a Bottom 6 Center, you can keep Dickinson if you want that. Why trade him for a new Dickinson?

I like Minten, but that's not a return I'd be looking at for a 2 million depth piece that can help about any team looking for depth while being cheap.

Donato has 32 points this year. Brock Nelson has 33 points. It is widely reported that Nelson will be getting a first. Therefore Donato will also be getting a first.

Sorry, I don’t make the rules.

Can never have enough
that's different than saying we don't have enough of those guys.

We have them, we actually currently have them as older versions on the roster. We have them as prospects and with lots of picks we can draft more of them.
I'd rather gamble on something bigger with hitting on a pick than get a guy we already have and would have no problem in adding to the team.
