Why No LCA Hosting Duties?

It occured to me that the Wings haven't hosted a draft or all star game in 38+ years. (Draft 87, Allstar 80)

Now I sort of get it when JLA was still the arena and downtown was in rough shape but its been 8 years since LCA opened and downtown is doing pretty solidly.

NFL draft went great last year, which is an even bigger event.

We are an orig 6 franchise, close to Canada so no issue filling the place up, have someone on the team each year worthy of an all star appearance and have been consistently drafting high while going through the rebuild.

Why do you think we still haven't hosted and when do you think we will?

Personally not a huge all star game person but would love to see the draft.

Wouldn't that require the league to have favor with the Wings? When has that ever been the case?

Bettman hates Detroit, I very easily believe that rumor, as silly as some might think that is.

"Little Caesars Arena is a great facility. I love what the Ilitches are doing in downtown Detroit, and at some point we've got to get there. That's something we're working on," he said on Saturday. "We haven't figured on the years yet," he said Saturday. "We're looking at the formatting of what we're doing with All-Star anyway. So there is a lot at play, but Detroit's on my mind."

This is the one I never get. Between the LCA and Plymouth you would think we have everything they want for hosting. We have the sheets around to practice, of course the Wings lose their New Year’s Eve game.

Mr I and Bettman had a pretty adversarial relationship. It does explain the hiatus in a lot of things, but the IIHF would be the World Juniors so that confused me a lot.

They could give up the New Year's Eve game for one year. If you are hosting the WJC, are you really losing that much revenue?

I do think it’s possible that Bettman (and others within the league) think the “District Detroit” promises vs. what’s actually transpired are not a good look for the league.

I'd be interested in them getting back the Frozen Four they were cheated out of by the pandemic. By "they" I really mean me

They know Detroit does not need to grow the fan base as much as at other new markets.

This team will celebrate 100 year history at next year. There should be something based on that.
