but if he's supposed to be as good as he is (and I'm not saying he isn't) then that shouldn't matter. It didn't matter for anyone else in his ballpark

Cop out answer. Every top player gets the best assignments but have got more than 1 goal in 3 playoff winning attempts.
1 goal in 3 finals where he won the cup.

So he had two points in the cup clinching game and was a point a game player in the finals the next year? Seems pretty good to me.
Missing the point. Yea he won cups but his stats in those finals aren’t anything special and 2/3 are shit.Hm, I wonder why.

No one gives a f*** about how many points he's putting up in the finals. People care that he has 3 cup wins in an era where that kind of success is insanely rare.
Crosby was the leader of the Penguins and they had 3 cup wins and 4 cup appearances with him. Trying to cling to "he didn't have that many points!" to discredit him just makes you look like a hater.
Pretty average for how hard his clutchness is hyped.

No what I'm arguing is that your thread is stupid. No one cares if Crosby "only" had 3 points in the finals against the Wings when the Penguins won the cup. The important thing is that the Penguins won the cup.
Clinging to point totals rather than the fact that the Penguins actually won just sounds like something an Oilers/McDavid fan would do.
Just admit he isn’t a clutch finals performer and ignore the thread.

If you'd create a poll among all gms of all time asking who they would like on their team in a scf game, im pretty sure Crsoby would be top 10 at the very least.
Revisit the finals with your smart phone looking up stats.

Just admit you're only making this thread because McDavid put up a bunch of points while losing last year, so you're trying to tear down Crosby because "he didn't put up many points!" despite the fact that the goal is to win games, not put up points.
If you'd rather put up a bunch of points rather than win, I guess being an Oilers fan is right up your alley then.
