Why is Boston such a good organization?

Culture.

2017 NHL ASG. I went to a red carpet kindof thing for kids before the athlete media sessions. Player after player signed a couple autographs or did a fly by (McDavid, MacKinnon, Ovechkin, etc). Crosby to his defense did say to his pr person that he was upset they didnt tell him to come down sooner so he could sign for all the kids.

Bergeron, Rask, and Marchand stopped for every single kid and every single picture.

The NHL rep who was with us told us stories of how amazing Bruins players are with anything for the league or charity and some specifics of players who suck (Karlsson was the one vivid story I remember).

After getting blanked out by the Flyers of all teams, it's becoming more and more profound that the Bruins will be steering head first towards a SOLID decade of mediocrity for the foreseeable future. Marchand's best days are f***ing behind him sadly, and Sweeney's bitch ass is 100% on the clock this season. Who knows if McAvoy is still able to hold it down on the backend and Pasta is Pasta.

What a run this team had especially with the lack of Top 5/10 draft picks that was missing from their roster which most cup contenders commonly have. This is a BIG factor that I don't think a lot of people realize and it arguably makes their run 100x IMPRESSIVE compared to those tank and blow it all up cores. Their the perfect example of a team that drafted well and managed to retool on the fly with the right moves just to be back in solid contention for 7+ years. 2015 probably did cost them at least 1 more ring, but nonetheless. Attaining Bergeron, Krejci and Marchand all in the 2nd-3rd rounds of their respective draft is bonkers.

This team with that core was able to accomplish 3 President Trophies, GOAT Regular Season Record, 1 Cup win, 3 Finals appearances and a solid bunch of Division Titles. Their the 4th best team of the CAP ERA 100%

Well sure - because 10 games of mediocre hockey to start this season obviously dictates just how poorly the team will perform over the next 10 seasons.

You know what I meant. Lindholm-Coyle and Zacha are not elite centre material and Marchand's battling injuries, regression and age at this point. There's only so much Pastrnak, McAvoy and Swayman can do before the wheels completely fall off. The B's are destined for mediocrity once Bradley retires and Pastrnak has no other solid option besides himself on offense.

They understand how to injure valuable players and making those players ineffective.

Case in point: Marchand slewfooting/tripping my boy Timothy Liljegren into the boards and nearly ending his career. No wonder Liljegren did not play well in the playoffs if guys like Marchand take out your ankles.

They were supposed to take a step backwards last year and humongously overachieved, even winning a playoff round. Now we pay for it. This team had a mostly good run over the last 15 years. You appreciate the 2011 run but really lament those times getting so close in 2019 and 2013 and not finishing the job. It really is the hardest trophy of all to win.

2023 has to be the one THAT stings the most though. It seemed like a playoff sweep was about to happen

The Bruins are destined for mediocrity because a 60pt player is declining?
