Why doesn't the NHL have stars with personality like LeBron James or Conor McGregor?

I really don’t give a shit what these guys are like off the ice or what their personalities are. I have stayed up late to watch Oilers playoff games this spring because McDavid is a generational player that makes NHL defensemen look stupid on a regular basis. His play on the ice speaks for itself. I don’t give a f*** if he’s “boring” as a person or not. I’ll never have a personal interaction with him in my life so why should I care?

I really hope the nhl never goes full nba and turns into tmz the league and just pushes fake drama for clicks.
