The carbon footprint equivalent in energy used to carry the players in airplanes over the course of a season could probably feed africa for years. And the ****ers travel in chartered flights.

This sound quit the exaggeration,

1) Food in Africa get wasted a lot, almost as much than in the western world in absolute by capita (so probably much more by percentage) you need to produce a lot to feed Africe for years in the current condition.

2) Africa is now 1.2 billion people and growing and Africa agriculture activity counted for 12% of the world emission linked to agriculture activity between 2000 and 2010 and 32% of the world deforestation during that time according to:
https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1748-9326/8/1/015009.

Not that far from their global population weight and similar to Europe agricultural activity emissions.

Ever get a cramp in your gut as a kid after drinking your pop or whatever? Yeah, that. Only a sip at a time

Did boxing before, same thing. A splash, swoosh and gargle and spit. If you drink too much water trying to play any sport there'd be a bunch players hunched over trying to shake the cramps off

I think it's because playing hockey is intense, and combined with the cool air creates a huge amount of phlegm in the throat and sinuses which make it's way to the mouth. It disgusting to swallow it and also disgusting to spit gobs of phlegm so taking a sip of water and spitting it out onto the ice makes alot of sense. That's my personal experience.
