Why Can't The Oilers Score Empty Net Goals?

This week they've played three games and faced an empty net in each of them and failed to score each time.

On Monday, McDavid scored the GWG (and the only goal) in a 1-0 win over LA on his 28th birthday. With the Kings' net empty, he hit the post. Against MIN and COL, the Oilers never came close to scoring an empty net goal.

In fact, I believe McDavid has zero or close to zero empty points all season, which is almost unthinkable considering how often the Oilers win, how much they dominate possession and McDavid's speed. You would think he would rack up a ton of empty net points like his rivals MacKinnon and Kucherov or at least more than he has scored.

Not everyone can be Nathan mackinnon and rantanen when it comes to to EN goal. Some of us just have accept the win and 2 points and be okay with that.

Edmonton needs to trade for Sidney Crosby. He has the most empty net points in NHL history.

I guess he doesn't agree with members of his fan base who think empty net points are selfish and needless stat-padding points.

Because they are not sore EN point merchant losers and only add Real Points Against Human Goaltenders (RPAHG) to their totals.

You may not be wrong... lol.

They had a chance for one this afternoon and a player (I believe Draisaitl) simply missed a wide open net.

The Sabres had a good amount of offensive zone time after that, too. It was an important game for the Oilers. They needed to win to pass Vegas in the standings.

They held on for the win, but their inability to hit empty nets is getting almost comically bad.

There's going to be a crazy disproportionate celebration when (or if?) the Oilers score their next EN goal. Like I'm talking Connor Brown's first goal last season crazy...
