Why are North American chants so lame compared to soccer chants/songs?

Hockey crowds are much richer than European soccer crowds. Rich people aren't going to act like hooligans.
You think? At one point a couple of decades ago a load of rioting fans were named and shamed. A huge percentage were teachers, lawyers, doctors etc. Football in the UK is not cheap by any means. The crowds are very diverse in terms of socioeconomics. Crowd trouble in the UK is pretty rare these days, I’ve seen more footage of fights in NHL crowds than UK football crowds in recent times (I’m not saying it doesn’t happen).

It isn’t the 1980’s any longer by English football seems to still hold that rep. There are bigger issues in mainland Europe but they are still diverse economically.
